I was homeschooled which led me to be super sheltered. I went to a real school for the first time when I was a sophomore in HS and my classmates started talking about STDs (the sex kind) and I just smiled and nodded my way through half the conversation before one of them realized I had no clue what an STD was.

Ditto Anna and LC, I worked in an ice cream shop and almost the entire staff did whippets with the whipped cream containers. Not me, though. I was also Sally sheltered and didn't even know such a thing existed.

She said that ALL public schools have "discipline problems", and the ONLY way to succeed in a public school is to take the "high track" (ie all honors/AP classes). She even said IN FRONT OF H that the only reason he succeeded in HS was because he went to the Catholic school that he did, and that he "wouldn't have made it in public schools". My blood is boiling just thinking about it now. Ugh. </div>

OMG attitudes like this towards public ed bug me the eff out. I'm so glad that FI's mom was a teacher, and that my mom is a school librarian, and we all see eye to eye and want our future offspring to be in public schools.

Bonjour! Je m'appelle MattsPenguin. I'm an old married hag now. I like music and tap dance and football. Although college football is over, and left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. We're going to a college basketball game tonight though. It was my Christmas present to the hubby. Guess what team we're seeing . . . CLEMSOOOOOON! They better not Clemsooooon it up!

Oh yeah, and I have the cutest dog in the world who is also incredibly intelligent. Some people think she's a cat, but she's really a dog. Seriously, like a 50 lb dog. She's just short with a long torso. Like me.

I'd like to have lunch with Stacks. And probably Kate#s, but that would be too easy of a pick. I'm hoping to have lunch with some Boston area ladies in the near future, too!! YAY BEANTOWN!

No one did whippets at my school, they did heroin. There was a true life about my high school. People do whippets at the restaurant I work at though, like LC said.
