Re: Wedding Wednesday

• -FI has the task of assembling our invitations while I write out the addresses.
-However the company did not send us enough glue dots to put them together so our stationary guy had to call the company so they'll send more.... I don't know when we'll get them....
-We're still dealing with my ring conundrum, and I'm hoping that will be resolved soon.
-We don't know what we're doing for centerpieces right now.
-We heard from FI's cousin and got the okay to make sure his son would still be our ring bearer.
-NWR: This isn't wedding related at all, but my aunt is having her baby on March 12th so I'm so excited for that!!!!!!!
-We still haven't figured out how we're going to get music to play at our ceremony site... Hopefully we'll be close enough that we can just use and iPhone/iPod dock or something and everyone will be able to hear that okay...
-We still haven't decided what we're getting as gifts for people and we don't have a whole lot of money right now because we're still having to make monthly payments for my schooling... (We do have little gifts for two of the flower girls though.)
-Hopefully I'm going to hear from my flower lady at the end of the month and she'll be sending me photo's of the bouquets and such. They are supposedly going to ship out in March which is why she's sending me photo's at the end of the month. I hope they're beautiful!
-All the guys are supposed to be measured and make the down payment for their tuxedo's by the end of this month and FI hasn't even told them that it needs to be done.... (I know it's wicked early or at least it seems it to me, but our tuxedo lady told us it's because of prom and we're getting married during wedding season so she doesn't want anything to get messed up or lost so she wants it done then...)
-We still haven't picked out our cake serving set...
-I still don't have my shoes, and haven't sent back the last two pair that I didn't like...
-I feel like I'm slightly becoming a bridezilla, because I still don't have a ring on my finger that I get to keep and won't having a bunch of issues with.
-FMIL really just keeps trying to push this one venue for the rehersal dinner on me and I keep politely trying to tell her that I don't really want anything that formal, but she just really hasn't seemed to take the hint...
-We haven't boughten our guest book or even budgeted for it... (I completley forgot about it whenever I was on our money spreadsheet!)
-I told the girls I should be able to pay for their shoes, but since my hours have been cut at work, because they hired a ton of new people I don't know if I'm going to be able to pay for their shoes... Frown
-I've been working on our wedding website a ton more and our registries and soon they will be able to be displayed for our guests to look at.

I am so so sorry that this turned into a vent more than it did listing off things accomplished and not accomplished. I hate not having an engagement ring on my finger that I'll be able to keep and not have problems with and it's turning me into a bit of a bridezilla and a brat...
Frown

I really hope everyone else's planning is going much better than mine right now...

• FI and I worked on painting the glass panes from the lanterns for the kids last night. Outside of a few injuries (on me of course), the lanterns are coming along great!

Tonight FI is supposed to be checking on renting his lodge hall for the rehearsal dinner. We decided doing an off-site rehearsal at his lodge and then dinner immediately following would be far easier than trying to coordinate with the venue to make the rehearsal happen within the hours they're open. The off-site rehearsal is fine with me, but the guest list may become an issue because last I heard FFIL was going to include their overseas OOT family but refused to include my US OOT family (um, UNACCEPTABLE). I know they have control of the guest list because they're hosting but it needs to be fair. Either EVERYONE from OOT comes or NO ONE from OOT comes. My mother has already said if this happens she'll leave the after the rehearsal but before dinner and go somewhere with her family (I don't blame her honestly) but then that leaves me in a very bad spot. Grrrrrr, we'll see what happens. FI says his dad won't do that.

Last time I saw FIs mom, the sample dress was coming along nicely. FI was supposed to take some grommets to her for the corset back, I need to check with him to see if he ever did.

We found cheap bartenders! YAY! This was a huge relief for me because FI had been wanting to use my MOHs daughter who is not licensed to bartend in the state we're having the reception in. The contract with our venue requires this and I told FI we couldn't use her because of this but all he kept saying was "They'll never know". I've heard horror stories about what happens when the requirements of a contract aren't followed and an incident occurs and I do NOT want to deal with that at all so finding this company was a huge relief. They seem to be pretty professional so here's hoping it works out.

Other than that, still waiting on the taxes to get done so we can start hemorraging money again for the wedding, LOL.

That really blows that he's not going to include your OOT family, but he's including his OOT family. I understand that they're throwing it and they're probably trying to keep things on the smaller side, but that would leave a bad taste in my mouth if I was an OOT guest from your side of the family. It wouldn't make me think very highly of your FI's family. I hope your FFIL realizes that....

• Hey everyone! Not much done this week, but I did find two pairs of shoes I liked so I just need to decide on that. My mom got her dress this weekend and its beautiful! She was freaking out because I changed our bridesmaid color dress from Lapis to Plum, and the dress she loved was a Plum-like color so she was afraid I was going to be mad, lol. She looked beautiful in her dress and I'm so happy she found something she likes!

I have our invitations all ready to go-- just waiting for a sale day to order them :)

We found our cake topper! At first I just wanted the rhinestoned letter, but over the weekend etsy got the best of me and I found a cute bride and groom in a car (FI and I own an auto repair shop!) So looks like we are going to use that and maybe the rhinestone letter too if it looks okay with both.

speaking of etsy, I found cute escort cards, menu's and table number designs too. Was going to DIY for those so I am going to price out the difference and decide if I should just order or stick the DIY plan.

and finally, we have rescheduled our florist meeting and we need to finalize the rehearsal dinner location. We will hopefully get both of those knocked out in the same day.

All that is left I think is we have to register still, and do our cake tasting.

OK, so I did a lot more this week than I realized!

Anniversary
• As you all can probably guess from my previous posts, we've been on the cake tasting rounds... So far we have two places we like that are very different. But we are leaning towards one more so than the other. We also have one more place to check out before we make a final decision. This will push the order to early March, but that's okay, the bakeries say that's still plenty of time.

The verdict is in on the rabbi/ cantor situation... We are moving forward with the rabbi, as our cantor decided he was not prepared enough for undertaking our interfaith and co-officiated ceremony. No hard feelings, we are really glad he at least met with us and considered it carefully. The rabbi we are going with is wonderful, with much experience and lots of great ideas on how to make our ceremony meaningful and unique to us. So, we are really excited to move forward with the ceremony process with him.

And, I am really relieved too! Was so worried we wouldn't have a rabbi willing to bless our marriage and now we do!

We also picked up FI's suit from Brooks Brothers this week. All the alterations are complete and it looks beautiful. Now he just needs to pick out his suspenders (Yep, that's his quirk, he wants to wear suspenders... had the buttons sewn into the waistband of his trousers especially for it!), pocket square, socks, and new shoes.

I tried on some shoes in Bloomingdales the other day. Am really shocked at the lack of evening/ bridal shoe selections, or maybe I'm just too picky. Anyway, I found a pair of Stuart Weitzman peep toe pumps in silver, with a little glitter embellishment, that I really liked but am not completely sold on them yet. They are still more than I want to spend, even at 40% off!

Am going to San Diego next weekend, to visit my mom, and go shoe shopping. Hopefully I will find something then.

I finalized our registries, updated the wedding website, and sent out a reminder STD email with our wedding website address to our guest list on our 4 month mark. Lots of nice responses on our digital guest book have followed!

Am now reviewing the song list from our band and making selections for the ceremony and special dances. Had to submit our list of special request songs to see if they could possibly perform them... they are a jazz band, so their song book is stylized, but they say they can accommodate most special requests and play them in a jazz/ blues style. Can't wait!

Next on my to do list:
Order my invitations!
Scout rehearsal dinner restaurant with FMIL

*Beth, I'm so sorry you're stressing out so much. Try to relax if you can and just know that it will all come together... especially the ring. And, if you can find the money to put towards ordering your escort cards and table numbers from Etsy, then do it! At this point your stress levels are too high to undertake any DIY projects, you'll just be adding to the list of things to stress over. Good Luck! and *Hugs*

Anniversary
• My mom ordered a bunch of stuff for us- tiger lilies, tulle and hurricane vases for decorations, and colored pins needed to put together the BM/GM bouts and bouquets. She's going to order our favors for us too soon and already ordered us favor bags. Love my mom!

FI and his GM's were supposed to go together to get fitted on Saturday, but apparently the place closed at 3pm and they were there at like 2:55 and they wouldn't let them in to look or anything. So that's annoying and now who knows when that'll get done.

I finished paying for my boudoir photos. I actually sent the final payment in a few weeks ago but I kept forgetting about it. I need to get ahold of the photographer so we can pick a time she can figure out how to do my hair and make up.

I really need to go buy stamps so I can start putting my invitations together and get that all finished up. I want them in the mail before I go to Vegas on March 7th. And my MOH mailed my shower invitations this week!

I need to ask my coordinator a few questions but I keep forgetting to email her. I guess that's about it for now. A lot of what's left to do is stuff other people have some control over or that are dependent on other things. Like my mom's friend is putting together the bouts and bouquets, so whenever she gets that done is when that's done. And I have my place cards and floor plan for our venue, but until I start getting rsvp's back I can't label those things.

I plan to make my final meetings with our DJ, baker, and photographer once we hit the three month mark too.

Next on our docket (God willing) will be rings. FI wants to look in Vegas. I know exactly what I want and found it on etsy. Then Monday I found a local jeweler that sells what I want and I was able to try it on and I loved it. So yeah, just kind of waiting on him. And we also need to book our honeymoon. At least make flight, room, and car rental reservations.

• We had our tasting on Monday with our caterer!! Thank goodness it was deee-licious, because our venue uses an exclusive caterer.

We got the last set of enclosures for our invites on Friday, and I ordered some more envelope samples so that I can get those ordered. My fiance's mom is going to address the envelopes for us, as she has old-fashioned, Palmer method handwriting.

I also got some work done on our centerpieces over the last week, and I finally feel like we're making some progress there.

I just spoke to my aunt, who is officiating for us, and we talked a little bit more about the ceremony and the rehearsal. I'm working on finishing up the ceremony so that I can email it to her.

I don't even know what's next on my to-do list right now, other than to finish these darn centerpieces. I set a deadline for myself to have them done by the beginning of April, so I just need to keep making forward progress with them. I feel like we're shifting from the "planning stuff" phase into the "make sure all those plans are right" phase.

This past weekend I worked on lining all of my invitation envelopes with the help of some awesome ladies I have befriended living in OK. I am so grateful for their help, becuase those envelopes liners would have been the end of me if I was left to do them all on my own.

I got my invitations printed yesterday, and they look lovely. So that is one more thing to check off my list!

FI sent out a reminder to all of his guys to get their tux measurments in. I love that I have such an amazing man :) makes life easier.

..And today I saw that my ticker countdown said 3 Months, 3 Weeks, and 3 Days to go!
(SO EXCITED!)
