Mari that'd scare me too. Do you have a security system?

  • I just went to the movies to see Hunger Games last weekend. My college roommate went with me and she hadn't been to the movies since 2009. She's an accountant and very frugal, so she about had a heart attack when she saw what the concessions cost.

Yea, that's why I refuse to go to a movie I may not like, it's way too much.

Snail-Hope things are going good with you and FI!

  • The weather sucks here today.  Lots and lots of rain.  We wanted to go out, but instead we are being lazy watch mob movies.  Right now Casino is on.

    Not really an exciting day.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

<div>I think that's why I won't call to get an estimate, I think the minimum is like $30-$40 a month. We live in a great neighborhood and have a sprinkler system in our house. So basically the only thing it would be used for is break ins, which I'm not worried about when H is around. And our next purchase is a shotgun so we will also have proctection.</div>

  • Oh, make that the last thing we saw was Hunger Games.  That isn't nearly so long ago.

Snail, feel free to tell me to STFU if I'm being too nosy, but how did things turn out with your FI?  Is he sacking up?

Yeah I need to look into alternatives, H works until midnight or later sometimes so I want to feel safe.

  • Hi evryone.
    Crash, sorry about your back.
I have the same problem when FI is gone overnight, which is fairly often. This is a really good neighborhood, and my next door neighbor is a cop, but still. I have the worst time getting to sleep. We can't swing the security system right now either, but I hope to get one later. Mari, that's bother me too.

Yeah that's one of the first things that we are going to get when we get out of debt and have some extra money.

  • Heb, I hadn't. Must go find it on YouTube now.

  • Yeah. Unfortunately, we need to fix the upstairs plumbing and replace the salt system for the pool before we can even think about a security system.

Sorry, I had to make a run to the store and then FI called. It's going pretty well. He just told me he's going to be able to get me the first $275 tomorrow and he thinks he'll be able to get the remainder next weekend, and he told me about his savings plan, so it sounds like things are going to be settled here soon. I would venture to guess I'll be back in the apartment by this time 2 weeks from now. He also told me yesterday that all the time alone made him realize how hard it must be for me when he goes out and doesn't come back on time, how lonely I must be, and how he wants to make that change, so that's an unintentional awesome twist of events.

  • I thought about getting one of those signs you put in your yard, you can buy them at Home Depot, they say that helps deter intruders that they won't try if they think the home is protected.

</div><div>I actaully have a Schticky....the dude skeeves me out, but it does what it says it does. My dog loves our new sofa, so he lays on it when I'm not in the house. The Schticky does a better job than the traditional lint rollers.</div><div>
</div><div>That roach on the wall creeps me out but the mug shot makes me giggle...especially since I know he got picked up on some charge, prostitution I think.</div>
  • Snail, That's great new
Mari, I know. we actually have stickers on some of our windows like that-this house was never wired for an alarm.

  • I always wondered if the people with signs in their yards actually had the security systems they advertised or if they just had the sign there to defer intruders. Now I know, you can never be sure.

Literally the guy has to do a massive amount of blow before he films. The part that kills is the cat part of it. I can't believe that they allowed him to say pu--y on cable TV.

H and I were talking about it. I guess it would be ok to just use on lint for clothes but like I really don't want to put carpet pieces and hair in my sink while cleaning it off.

  • I think i want a Schticky....now.

  • Yeah I might get one and ask about other security things, there is a bunch of other stuff at Home Depot as well.
    image
  • That's great Snail.  I geniunely hope that he does turn things around as much as he's promised.
  • Maybe I'm weird, but I never really use lint rollers, even though we have a cat. My mostly-dormant OCD gets a fix when I pick the cat hairs off my clothes/the furniture with my fingers. Granted, I have a short-hair cat, so the amount of shedding is relatively minimal.

This might sound naïve, but I really believe he will. He's never had a wake-up call like this and it seems it was exactly what he needed.

  • This morning I had this awesome idea for grilled chicken breasts, grilled corn on the cob and french fries in our deep fryer (that we have never used)....now I am thinking hamburgers on the grill and throwing some fries in the toaster oven.

I really need to get out of this lazy funk.  Just 8 more days of work until vacation!

For the passed 20+ years has been best friends with lint rollers. Literally one on the kitchen counter, one in the bed room, one on my desk at work. But then again I lived in a house full of animals. (Dog, Cat, and 2 birds) That's a bit much to handle with just fingers plus, I shed like a animal.
