I Judge...

Re: I Judge...

  • My usual judgement:  I judge the people who park in the fire lane.  The other day I went in the grocery just to return a red box, and the car was still there when I went back outside (to return to my legally parked car).  There were more open parking spaces ten feet away.  REALLY!?!  REALLY!?!  Obviously whatever you had to do wasn't as quick as you thought it was.

    <div>Well, unless you know them personally, it's hard to look at someone and tell they are preferctly capable of taking the stairs.</div><div>
    </div><div>That said, I was on the elevator going up to my apartment.  It stopped on the 4th floor which is where our gym is located.  A woman got on who has obviously just finished working out.  She got off on the 5th floor.  REALL?  Couldn't have extended that worked out one more minute going up a flight of stairs?</div><div>

    What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

    Nope I don't.  But I've seen people literally run to the elevator to catch it and say "thanks for holding it, I don't feel like taking the stairs" and then get off on the next floor up or down.

    Seriously. I always make it a personal point to take the stairs, just because it's one of those little things you can do to stay in shape -- but judging someone you don't know because of a perceived laziness is silly to me.

  • I judge people who don't return shopping carts to the corrals.  I was at Target the other day, parked two spaces from the corrall, and some lady on the other side of me (so 3 spots from the corral) left her cart in front of my car as I was getting out.  I said to her "the corral is like 20 feet away..."  She gave me a dirty look and then walked her cart over there.  But seriously?  You can't walk a few extra feet to put your cart away where it won't accidentally damage anyones car?

  • Oh whatever.  I totally judge a guy in my work building for his elevator use.  He's a very active, athletic man in his 40s that I've run into at the gym on several occasions.  He uses the elevator constantly to go up or down one flight of stairs (my building is basically three floors, and he works on the second, and comes to third a lot for some projects).  Maybe it wouldn't bother me as much if our elevator wasn't the slowest moving piece of equipment on the entire fucking planet.  The man could definitely get to where he's going much faster if he took the stairs - and I'm bewildered by his elevator use because he always seems like he's in a hurry to go somewhere.  Hey, guy.  If you're late?  Don't wait for that damn elevator.  I'm not shitting you, I could lap that elevator probably twice going from the ground to the top.  And this guy takes the elevator.

    Lots of people in my building take the elevator for one flight of stairs (and they are small flights) but I don't judge them all.  Many people in my building are older and like PPs have mentioned, have joint issues or etc.  But whatever.  I judge the one guy and I judge him because he's lazy and I dgaf.

    <div>
    </div><div>I second this. </div><div>
    </div><div>An apartment I lived in during college had elevators, but the only stairs for the entire building exited outdoors, by the dumpsters and were exit only. They locked automatically behind you. I lived on the second floor and took the stairs as often as possible, but obviously had to take the elevator up every time. (I judge whoever designed that building). People literally screamed at me for doing that, or would at least glare at me. Every single day. That pissed me off enough to not care if people take the elevator for any reason - even if they are just lazy. Who cares why they take elevator?</div>

    More of a making people wait for them to take the elevator one flight or two I guess too.  I know there's no way to know who can take stairs or not unless they make it really obvious, so I rarely have any specific judgements, but it's just an irrational irratation/judgement of mine when people are too lazy to walk a flight of stairs thati s literally 10 feet away from the elevator.

    ETA if they have a legit reason, then yeah no judgement here.
