Just figured i'd post this since when I went i had to filter through lots of posts. I changed my name last week with social security and MVC. It was painless.
For Social Security, all i did was fill out the application (found it on their website) and show up with my marriage license. The lady reviewed, entered the data and gave me a signed letter stating that the card would arrive in about 10 days. I was in and out in 15 minutes.
For MVC (old DMV), I went on Saturday morning. Brought my 6 points of ID including our Marriage License. Waited about 45 minutes and then BAM I was legally name changed.
Now its on to credit cards and other bills. But it felt so good to be official.
