Checks!

Morning Ladies,
I got a major check done this weekend, my MOH & BM ordered their dresses! (pic below) My BM is 6 months pregnant and my MOH just had a baby 6 wks ago, so there was much going back and forth over when to get the dresses, what size to order, etc. So...I'm happy to be done with it! They ended up just ordering a size up and we will get them fitted post baby. It made me happy to hear from them both that they would "definitely wear the dress again". I wanted, for $150 a pop, to have a dress that was versitile but still wedding-ish and that's what we got.

Also, we chose our songs for our violinist to play and ordered our wedding invites. FI & I will be heading down to OBX May 7th-9th to get some other major checks done- meeting with DJ, Florist, Rental Co, venue manager, photog, makeup artist, and finding our honeymoon house and location for our rehearsal dinner. Very excited!

Awesome!  What are you hoping to get done at The Pearl? I feel like I should be nailing down some details with our wedding two months away. We haven't picked out any of our food, including the cake.

We are hoping to get alot done with The Pearl! We need to decide on our menu, how we want the reception & cocktail areas decorated and laid out, where exactly we are having the ceremony and how we want the chairs and lattice, and how many guest rooms we will need at Sea Ranch. Did you go with their cake? I've heard good things but we really fell in love with Great Cakes Key Lime Bliss and decided to order that. You and FI have eaten there before, right?

I'll try to combine both answers from the other thread here too.

We have eaten there.  After our planning meeting with Trish one morning before they opened for the day, we called back and made reservations for dinner.  It was, of course, delicious!  We purchased our own dinners, but Trish had samples sent out of two of their appetizers and some of their house wines.  We looooved the crab cake.

We went with their cake, but I'm hoping that was the right decision.  I showed her a picture and Trish said they could do it no problem.  I have no idea what their flavors are, but I'm assuming the cake is as good as the food and were were thinking something simple like red velvet.

We don't have anything picked for layout.  We're getting married on a Friday and arriving in OBX late Sunday night.  I'm thinking we'll have to meet briefly one day and take care of those details.  We're using our florists arch and Trish said she didn't have enough chairs, so we're renting those. When we were there for dinner, people were on the beach out front where we'd be getting married.  So I don't know how set-up will work but FI says he'll handle it.  I should probably ask about it.

Our RSVP date is May 6th, so I'm planning to get back in touch with Trish and get some food details worked out after that.  So far it's, "whatever's fresh fish" and "to be determined" chicken.  No clue on appetizers.  We also want to do a champagne toast, but I have no idea which one to pick.  You'll have to let me know what you decide after your meeting.

    Ms Teach-
I will give you an update when we meet with Trish next weekend. Cause I have ALOT of questions. I haven't tried thier cake, but the dessert we had there was amazing, so I'm sure the cake will be too.

We had to rent chairs too, for the ceremony. I think we are going to work on the room layout, I can send you the pics of what we are gonna do if you want when I get back. We only will have 50 guests, is that close to your guest count? I know the tables seat 6 people each so we are planning on at least 10 tables to be safe. Also, are you using the "sweetheart table" for you & Fi to sit at for the reception? We aren't. I want to sit with the wedding party.

You will have more time before the wedding to setup than me though. We leave on Friday and our wedding is Sunday night. That's why I want everything pre-planned before we go.

Let me know if there's anything you want us to ask or take pics of for you.

I'm wondering if Trish can let you decorate/set-up ahead of time?  I know it says two hours prior, but I doubt there's a wedding Sunday morning ahead of you. That's one of the questions on my list.  Being a Friday wedding, she might not have anyone Thursday night or Friday morning.  I think the set-up of the reception and beach ceremony is what I'm most nervous about, but Trish does it all the time so I'm sure it will be fine.  I'll just feel better when I know how it works.

We're doing around 30 people, maybe a few less now that my grandma is in declining health.  My uncle and his family are staying behind so she won't be alone in case something happens, so that reduces our head count.  I'm thinking we will do a sweetheart table though.  We don't have a wedding party and after playing with our tables of six, I think that's the only way it's going to work without having 2 half empty tables.  We'll also need some type of table for our guest book and escort cards, plus the obvious cake table.

Let me know if I'm missing something you've thought of. =)
