Re: Siggy Challenge!!

  • I can't get the pic any smaller so I hope it is not too big and annoying.  Our honeymoon location is the same resort where the wedding is being held.  I like to call it our weddingmoon b/c due to our work schedules, we can only take one week off and with the residency requirements in Jamaica and us wanting to have the wedding on a Saturday it worked out that our "honeymoon" is actually the whole week before the wedding.  I think its kind of cool to end the honeymoon on the high note which is our wedding!  We actually come back home the day after the wedding.  I am trying to get the Monday off from work also, but it may be too much since I am an accountant and they are actually allowing me 5 days off...fingers crossed!

We will spend 8 nights here!  All inclusive resort (food and top shelf liquor included!), nightly entertainment.  It's an adults only resort which was a plus for FI and I...we love kids but decided that we want our honeymoon kid free lol!  I can't wait to lounge by this pool with my almost husband, take walks on the beach, swim in the ocean and just breathe in paradise!  Our guests will begin to join us about 2 days before the wedding so we have 6 full days alone before the party begins lol!

  • We are going to Disney World the week after the wedding with fiances family but we are taking our offical honeymoon to Tennessee in March during my spring break. We are staying in this cabin.

  • ohhhh that's looks sooo romantic!!

  • Mmm... I think I won't be able to participate to siggy challenge, unless I post a picture of my own apartment! My fiancé and I we will skip the honeymoon part, for financial reasons. We decided the money we would try to raise for this will in our ''downpayment-for-a-condo'' account. I'm still taking a week off work one week after the wedding (so it's also during my university springbreak), but since my future husband might not have this luxury with his work, I'll stay home and relax and play housewife for a couple of days! Haha!
  • We're not taking a honeymoon either because of money. If anything, we may go camping somewhere in the UP (Upper Penisula of Michigan) or visit Mackinaw Island during the summer after I get some vacation time.

  • We, too, are having a "weddingmoon," but we are having the wedding early and then we will have 5 days after that to relax and enjoy time with each other and the family/friends who will be there with us.  We've been to this beach in Playa del Carmen twice on vacation, so it was the natural choice for us.  And my pic is the view from our room when we stayed at the resort last January!
  • Jenny- that look AMAZING!!
Miliska and Hope- how about your dream honeymoon locations??  or maybe you and your FI's favorite vacation spot?  or the place you'd like most to visit one day!

  • Updated Siggy. It's one of many waterfalls in the UP, which is somewhere we talked about camping for our delayed honeymoon.

Hope I have almost that exact same picture on my computer at home! It looks like Miner's Falls.  Three years ago FI and I went to Munising for a scuba trip.  It's beautiful there.

We've been talking about it and it seems to be a toss up between an Alaskan cruise and Hawaii.  I'll have to take a few minutes one of these days and find a picture to post.

  • Starnern: I'm not sure which one it is. I just searched for waterfalls in the UP. We're thinking this because I always wanted to see some awesome waterfalls and I have yet to visit the UP (despite living in Michigan for ~13 years now). But it'll definitely have to be summer when we go on that trip. :)

  • Mine is my dream honeymoon, that sadly isn't in the budget.  Tokyo was the first trip FI and I took just us.  Not only is it really special because of that, but it was a totally awesome trip.  We'd really like to go back someday, but thanks to the strength of the yen, it's a much more expensive trip now :(

  • Oh, wow...  Tokyo is SO on my travel bucket list.
  • Since I'm not very original, I wish FH and I could go somewhere in Cuba for our honeymoon, since it's hot and cheap and gorgeous and awesome! But even though it's cheap, it's still out of our bugdet for the moment with our trying to save for a condo, so it's probably going to be a trip to do in a couple of years. *sigh*
  • My fiance and I are going to  Disney World too! We are SOOO excited! All the pictures look great. We had talked about taking a cruise, but we both love DIsney and decided we wanted to go to Disney World instead.
    Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • frig- the disney cruise probably would've been the best of both, no?  I really want to go back to Disney World and I would also like to go on the Disney Cruise lol!

For the ladies not able to honeymoon right away I think it's great that you are prioritizing certain things!  Soon your dream trip will come true and you will be able to enjoy it more knowing that when you return home it will be back to the dream condo (miliska) and Amo- you will be able to spend the yen like it's nobody's business! lol!

FI and I try to travel annually however with the wedding and moving our expenses have gone up drastically so we didn't go anywhere last year and won't this year, but I know it will be worth it for the wedding we want and also living where we do now :-)  Point is, the sacrifice is always worth it in the end!

  • julyet-we looked into the Disney cruise, but it was about $1000 more than the other cruises we were looking at and we weren't willing to spend that much more money. We decided we would just prefer to do them separately. We are talking about going on a cruise a year or two after we get married if we can swing in financially.

Hope: that picture is very beautiful. We don't have too many places that look like that here in Arizona. It would be nice to see and actual waterfall. haha.

  • Are we the only ones wanting cold?? We would love to go on an Alaskan cruise!! That would be our dream trip but if we can't make it happen for the HM, we'll still be wanting somewhere cold!

We probably won't be going right away either. FH will be in his last semester of shool which is student teaching and I don't want him to have to miss too much of that. Our HM will probably happen on his spring break or once he's graduated after May.
Best of luck to you and yours!

  • kr - We totally talked about an Alaskan cruise (aurora borealis!  omg pics!), until we realised that we'd have to take a plane to the west coast before we could get on one.  Then we talked about budgeting a few days between the flight & the cruise to enjoy CA, then just figured we'd have our HM there!

  • Frig: Thanks. :) I've never seen a "real" waterfall (anything more than that from a stream) either. My fi's uncle and new wife just moved down to AZ and we've been debating on visiting them and making that trip our HM. So many different choices, how do you choose one? :)

  • Now that you mention it, I did hear it was super costly...that's probably why I haven't done it yet lol! I like Carnival cruise lines b/c I've had fun on both cruises I went on and they were easy on the pockets!

Awesome!!  That's so cool!  I hear great things about Negril so far and a lot of the reviews for Sandals are great...of course each person enjoys things differently, but I'm sure I will love it as well :-D

I almost planned my wedding/honeymoon for Antigua!!  It costed more than going to Jamaica so I cut it...tried to be as budget friendly for my guests as possible :-)
