    I love cats!

But I kind of have to side-eye everyone who isn't owned by DDP Kitty or Taco Cat, but who has nonetheless nicknamed their pet of choice something along the lines of [Single Abstract Noun] [Feline Synonym of Choice].  C'mon.  They don't all need titles.

  • Milf, I love your grandma. So much. I love her cat craziness.
  • I really wish someone would photoshop a picture of me chilling out with baby jesus for my birthday, that would be the best birthday present EVER. I worry that people get offended by my baby jesus jokes around my birthday, but I just love them. My favourite is saying that me and baby jesus are tight, and then crossing my fingers.

    Umm.... sorry about that.

  • I have an IRL grievance.

Friend just sent out an fb invite for her own birthday. She wants everyone to dress up and go to this fancy-schmancy bar/restaurant for martinis and dinner. Ok, the drinks at this place run from $15-20 (food from $28 - 45 before apps). She never has any money and is always relying on the symapthies of others to pay for her. So you pick one of the most expensive places in town and want us to cover you? The week before Christmas? And dress up? This could easily run $200-300 for H & I, even without me drinking. This is a not a place that we have all been to before, so it is definitely not a hangout in our cirlce. And martinis? We are a beer drinking crowd.

I just find it really obnoxious that she would pick an expensive place like this without asking what people can afford, kmowing that people would feel obligated to cover her drinks and food. So damn it, we are not going.

Ditto. A friend of mine sent out a similar FB message for her 30th b-day in Atlantic City. It's just a couple weeks after Christmas and she wants to go to dinner, gamble and maybe a club? You're looking at $500 before gambling easy, plus travel expenses as AC is 2 hours away. Sorry hunnie, I don't have that kind of cash laying around after the holidays. I'd be happy to take you out to dinner though.

Oh yeah, same friend also never gave us a wedding gift because she couldn't afford it. Ok, no problem. I understand people have money issues, and a gift isn't required (she spends all her money on bars and concerts, but that's her life. She can live it any way she wants, and she prefers the 5 maxed out credit cards lifestyle. Whatever floats your boat, sweetie). But if you can afford $15 martinis, you could have sprung for a card from the Dollar Store.

  • I hate that sort of thing too, Alli. I planned a party for my sister's b-day this Saturday and made sure to pick something that is inexpensive but fun (outdoor ice skating!) then just invited people back to our place for food and drinks. It's the holiday season and a crap economy, I figure people don't have the money to spend on grand gestures right now.

  • Well, I'm glad I missed AYG since it was all love-festy and about cats.  I second Blue about love fests before AYG.  I thought this last night, but I was having fun in the love thread.

I have two small TK grievances.  First, I was annoyed by MC's "J&K and Nebb why don't you loooovvvveeee meee?" yesterday.  I'm mainly pissed at myself.  Consistently, I have said that while I abhor MC's teaching practices and use of the n-word, she comes across as a sweet person and as long as it wasn't in relation to those two issues, I'd interact peacefully with her.  That post last night was manipulative and it made me rethink my position on MC.  Previously, I thought she was just ridiculous and a bad teacher, but trying to be nice.  Now I'm annoyed.

My second grievance is with Celles.  I just find her posts to be sanctimonious and obnoxious.  I get that a lot of people love her and I do find her funny from time to time, but whenever she's arguing a point with someone, I just find her posts to be condescending and "holier than  thou", which I can't stand.
  • Oh I forgot the "Don't take the Christ out of Christmas" garbage that MC was going on about, especially when we find out that she identifies as Christian and doesn't want anyone to use the phrase Xmas, but knows nothing about the history of the Church or the birth of Jesus. I think she just follows the popular viewpoint and hangs on to it, as also evidenced by her response in the cartoon thread.
