Hi Denise!

I saw in a post that you stayed at Secrets Maroma Beach for your Honeymoon. That's where my fiance and I are staying at for our HM! We are going September 9th-17th. Can you tell me about your experience there. We are staying at a Preferred Club Ocean View room. We didn't have the money for the honeymoon suite. When did you go there and how was the weather? (rainy, opressive heat and humidity?) Did you do any excursions? We want to do a trip to Tulum to see the ruins, the cliffs and beach and eat at some of the beach clubs there.

Thanks!!!!

We absolutely loved it. We stayed in an Ocean View room (we didn't do Preferred Club). I suggest that when you get there, you tell them you are on your HM because they may upgrade you. They gave us a better room and we heard of people actually being upgraded to the HM suites. Honestly is was sunny and beautiful almost every day. It is kinda like Florida and the Caribbean where it may give you a heavy rain for like 20 minutes, then the sun pops back out and dries everything up. We actually got the tail-end of Hurricane Rita, but it only rained our second to last day from the storm and we were there for 11 days. We didn't do any excursions but heard from many that the ziplining tours are awesome. We went to Tulum the previous time we went to Mexico and it is very pretty, definitely worth seeing. The good thing is that it doesn't take up the entire day like Chichen Itza, because it is much closer. The food was actually really good and H and I are pretty picky. He had the Kobe beef one night at the steak house and it was amazing. The buffet is pretty decent, but the restaurants are really good. Room service at 2AM is also pretty nice. Best of luck to you guys and hope you have a great time.

Also, do not book anything at the airport, it is a scheme to get you to a timeshare presentation, although they will tell you it is not. Go directly out of the airport to the transportation and don't talk to anyone. I am not sure who you booked through (we had Orbitz), so you will likely have a rep at the hotel that you can book your tours through.

Thank you so much! We paid for private transfer outside of our resort so we will go straight to our car service. I didn't realize there we top floor balconies with no roof? ( 3rd picture). I have read about 200 reviews and never saw that picture. Do you remember what building you were in? Also how did you travel to Tulum. Everyone says the collectivo (don't know if they have AC) from Playa Del Carmen is the way to go but I want us to have a comfortable ride down especially since its so hot and I'm guessing it's about 1.5 hours from the hotel. Thanks

Our room was the top floor of the main building. It was nice because we had panoramic views. We did a Tulum tour, so it was a tour bus and was about a 1/2 day trip. I would say it may be like 40min to an hour trip. We took a collectivo to Playa Del Carmen and it was um...interesting. You can get a cab, but it would be quite a bit more. I think the collectivo was $2 per person.

Haha. I had a feeling the collectivo would be....."interesting." Very cool room being at the main building. Did you get any room noise with being right on top of the main building and the restaurants?

Collectivo probably won't do well with my fiance. She had an unfortunate incident in her past and gets very anxious in tight crowds or being near a group of strange people.

We were above the night club, but it tamed down by the time we went to bed anyway.
