Groom's Cake

Who's doing one?  I would love to surprise FI with something.  The only dessert at our reception will be the wedding cake.  The layers are yellow with chocolate frosting, red velvet and a vanilla pudding something or other.  Pretty basic.  I would love to add a little something extra.  FI loves strawberry cake and frosting and cheesecake. The recent cake/cupcake thread made me think about a cupcake tower.... or should I consider something other than cake.  If so, what?

Hey, get M.J. a cheese cake with strawberries. And then, it can be just for him. If not, do a nice strawberry cake. Either way, I think he'll be appreciative. If you do something other than a cake, then it really wouldn't be for him.

OH, to answer your other question {lol}, I got one for Babe. It was a regular 10" round cake with chocolate covered strawberries in his favorite flavor.

FI really wanted an ice cream cake for the reception (he is a big kid)....so I was thinking of surprising him with his own ice cream cake  =) .  I thinkyour FI would love the fact that you got something just for him and his favorite at that....sweet gesture!!

How cool would that be!!!  I think I'll do the strawberry topped cheesecake (for a little variety).

Ok, dumb question..... how do you avoid sharing it?

    HAHA Good question!

We are having a grooms cake at the rehearsal dinner that FI does not know about. His favorite drink is a corona so i am doing a corona shaped cake with the lime included. Yum-O I'm excited for him to see it!

I would guess that you'd have it out for photo opps or whatever. Then the venue people should know NOT to cut it. After yall cut the main cake, before they start serving it to guests, maybe they can take it back to the fridge. Or something like that. As long as they know not to serve it, you should be good.

We won't eat it... we all healthy and stuff.  Plus, we would have to get it back home.  I saw this while searching... a mini bundt cake for two.  It's mocha double chocolate chunk with Patron XO Cafe!!  I think I will order this and give it to him after we get to our hotel!
