bright paper flowers, tacky?

So flesh professional flowers are not really a budget priority for us, so my mom and I were thinking we might make tissue paper flowers and make the bouquets, bouts, corsages, centerpieces etc ourselves a la martha stewart: http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/article/crafted-bouquet
my only concern is our colors are hot pinks and oranges and I am afraid that paper flowers might look elementary in such bright colors, not the fun, unique look I would like. What do you think?

Re: bright paper flowers, tacky?

  • not tacky! i think if you keep the flowers in the warm colors you will be fine and it will not look elementary. Good luck!
  • def not black tie and a DB wedding dress lol, wedding and reception are in an outdoor covered pavilion and gazebo by a lake, not a lot of flowers around but trees, no DJ there is, believe it or not a jukebox in this pavillion, we are having cupcakes too. Im just trying to keep in budget while making the whole thing have a cohesive but relaxed and fun vibe.
  • I'm planning on using tissue paper pomanders for our ceremony-like other posters said, as long as they fit the overall tone of your wedding (which it sounds like it does), you should be fine.
  • I'm going to be making those bouquets for my wedding! I'm having a semi-casual wedding and don't really care that much about the flowers and this will be a nice personal touch to the wedding. I agree with PP that it should fit with the overall feel of the wedding and I think it would be great for yours.

  • They look nice, better than faux, but I would start making them ASAP as they look like they are very labor intensive
