I haven't read any of the books, but I'm rewatching the show on Netflix. It's not quite as good as I remember, but she is still awesome. I'll have to see if my library has them.
In Response to Re: Meet and greet : If you're in northern you are definitely near me! :) I kind of like that about RI too - it's an easy drive to the beach, and there seems to be a lot of coastline for such a small state.
    Posted by MRSBJS
Oh yes... I'm such a beach bum! I try to go every Saturday during the summer. I just find it so relaxing to read, have my toes in the sand & listen to the waves.

H isn't so much of a beach bum... but he really enjoyed it on our honeymoon, so he thinks he'll be joining me this summer. I think if he's expecting the beaches in RI to be anything like the beaches we were at in Hawaii, he's going to be sorely disappointed!

  • I'm Button (which is actually my nickname at work). I'm 25 and I live outside of DC in Virginia. My FI and I met at a college political conference and we've been together just over 4 years. We got engaged in St. Thomas in November.

I have two cats, Cheyenne and Ada. Cheyenne has bad breath and meows constantly for attention, and Ada is my princess with a disability (she is blind in one eye). We also had a fish named Cheney, but I came home last week to find him gone. We think Ada ate him.

We are both originally from Massachusetts. We have many things in common but we have drastically opposite taste in entertainment choices. Example: I love Britney Spears (I've seen her in concert 3 times) and FI loves Led Zeppelin and Tool.

I live in southern California, so I have easy access to both. I work part time as a tutor for an amazing 3rd grader, and I'm slowly but surely finishing school with a major in human development. My career goal is to teach special education. I have a bunch of pets, 2 dogs, a cat, and 2 rabbits. I'd love more, but since I'm living back at home, thats not an option.
DNA, what part of Colorado are you in? Nates, my brother lived on the big island of Hawaii for about 20 years. It is rocky and so are the beaches. I only visited him twice in 20 years. Plus, there's not much to do there. And most beaches weren't easily accessible. You either had to be in a hotel with access or drive to a public beach. I sound like a brat but I hated going there. I don't ever want to go back to any part of Hawaii. Do what now? I thought there was a ton of stuff to do on the Big Island. I wasn't there for 20 years or anything, but there was no shortage of stuff to do.

Nates, Maui is the shiit. It's been ten years since I've been there but holy balls do I want to go back.

We took a day and drove to Hana and hiked - it was gorgeous. You go through this sweet Hawaiian forest, through a bunch of bitchin bamboo trees and at the top is a kickass water fall. And we went swimming in 7 Pools (fucking COLD but the water was so clear and awesome). The beaches were also amazing.

We also took a day and went to a small beach on Lanai, because we heard the snorkeling was off the chain. But there was like, nothing out there. We found out later that it was because sharks were in the area. Nice.

  • Hi! I'm Clare an I'm not really new, but I don't think I'd consider myself a super-reg. I'm mostly on E, but lately I've found conversations on SB to join as well.

I'm (almost, in 2 days) 29, live in Boston, I'm an event planner for a nonprofit that has astoundingly lax interweb controls. I joined TK a few years ago to stay on top of event planning trends, but didn't start posting regularly until after I was engaged. I really love party planning and entertaining in general, so wedding planning is a breeze for me (and I'm finding it difficult empathizing with people who find it really really stressful.)

I love to read, the top of the list has Hunger Games, Harry Potter, The Help, Shantaram, and The Handmaids Tale. My television watching ranges from Walking Dead, to NBC Thursday night comedies, to the Real Housewives and the Jersey Shore (sometimes). I love to walk around my city (Boston) and just be outside and people watch. I am a huge bargain shopper, mainly H&M, Forever 21, and Second Time Around, our main secondhand shop.

I don't have any pets (boo renting!) but do have 2 house plants.

Honestly, I really enjoy these boards and hope to be able to get to know people better! And they have definitely helped me with my planning! Cool

  • Nates, I suggest you look into renting a condo if you are staying longer than a few days. Food is expensive, si having a kitchen is nice. For us it was $100/night cheaper than the hotel right down the beach, and was right on thw water

  • I'm Dara and I've been married to Michael for huh, 10 months today. I'm 30, he's 31 and we're both assholes. We have two asshole cats named Allie and Dezi. Dezi is part domestic bobcat so she's extra assholey. I'm a project manager for military and commercial jet engines and Michael is the guy in hospitals that takes away body parts once they've been amputated. (he's still on the look out for a brain for Mr. Sucrets)

Sometime this year we'd like to start the process of growing a fetus in my lady bits, we'll see how that works out for us. We're hoping to have a couple of kids, all of which will have the middle name Rambo, regardless of gender.

I love the Cleveland Browns and I love that I have a fan friend in Amy now. I'm really hoping to start a garden this year, but I'm kind of lazy so most likely I'll just talk about it a bunch and still buy all my shiit from the over priced farmers market.

OK, now I just sound creepy.

:::going back to my boring spreadsheets:::

No wait, I lied. Here's my 2 cents on Hawaii:
We island hopped... we did Oahu for 4 nights & Maui for 5. Oahu was good to visit, but Maui was more of the Hawaii that I pictured... pretty low key, quiet beaches, relaxed vibe. We stayed right on Waikiki Beach on Oahu and it felt too city-like to be the Hawaii that I imagined. But it just depends what you're looking for? If you have time to island hop, then you can get a little bit of everything!
