Snarky Brides

Morning!

Morning ladies!

Up early thanks to raging heartburn from medrol dose pack, so I thought I just say hello before heading out to work.  Only 13 more days until I am done at this job and go part time after the wedding.  Back to being a full time student in June.

Trying to figure out what to make for supper, feel like we've been in a "supper rut"  and been eating the same things.   any suggestions??

Re: Morning!

  • Morning Kushie, not sure if you left for work yet.  I was an NEPA girl for all of my life up until 16 months ago.  Sure do miss the mountains!

I am having leftover chinese for dinner so I am no help, but anything on the grill is good this time of year.  I made this recipe this weekend and it was good and quick.

  • Morning ladies!

I had a pretty excellent weekend. Friday night we stayed in and watched Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back, then Saturday we went to a costume party (military theme, so that was easy for us lol), and then yesterday H took me to a concert. We saw a ton of cool bands (New Year's Day, William Control, The Bunny and The Bear, Polkadot Cadaver) but I mainly just wanted to see Deuce (from Hollywood Undead). I got to meet him and take a picture with him, it was so cool. I definitely felt old, though, because about 75% of the crowd was made up of teeny-bopper bubble-gummers wearing head-to-toe Hot Topic clothes, being escorted by their parents. So yeah, that was kind of annoying, but not enough to spoil my good time. I had a total blast.

It's back to work for me, though. Bleh.

  • Morning, all!

The weekends go by so fast...wow. H and I went to the best wedding ever on the weekend. It was being filmed for "Four Weddings Canada" and was definitely a worthy contender, at least in my opinion. The antipasto bar itself was the length of the hall...omg. They even had a flash mob. The best part was the old woman behind me trying to explain a flash mob to the old man beside her. Awesome. :)

Mehg - you're brave to go to a concert on a Sunday. I'd be a mess today. Sounds like you had a great time, though!
  • Supper rut?  We had this recently and it was awesome and easy: http://www.eatingwell.com/recipe/asparagus_salad_poached_egg.html

Today is the first day of my first full week of work post-baby.  I have been up since 5:30 to get ready, and of course Gregory has chosen to sleep in, so now I am just wasting time until he decides to get up so I can feed him.

  • Good morning!

We were lazy on Saturday since all of our plans got cancelled, but yesterday we went to 6 open houses.  We didn't see anything that we like enough to seriously consider buying, but we did get a better idea of things that we like, dislike, things to pay attention to, etc.  So that was helpful.

  • Morning,

LP I thought about you yesterday, there were two (maybe three?) open houses in my neighborhood.

We had a pretty laid back weekend, it was great.  I'm actually ready to get this week started.  I have lots of goals to accomplish in the next few days.
  • Morning!  H and I had a great weekend!  On Saturday we each purchased a set of golf clubs and Sunday we went to the driving range and had a blast!  It was just nice to get out of the house and do something outside.  I have a ridiculously awful tan line now but oh well, we had fun so it was worth it.

Right now, I'm ordering tickets to go see The Avengers next weekend and trying to decide how I want to get my hair cut.  I'm thinking something like this or this (<--clicky).  I want to go super short for summer and my bangs are driving me batty, they're so long so they will be getting chopped as well.  I'm excited!

Oh and I made this (<--clicky) last night for dinner (except I used more seasonings and veggies) and I am soooo looking forward to having it again for dinner tonight.

  • That would be so funny if we were in your neighborhood! I'll FBPM you the ones we went to in your town in a minute.

I was doing some research yesterday about the testing I have to do tomorrow. One of them is some somethingorother personnel test - I looked up "practice" questions, and holy shite! I cant do frigging math like that outta my head. Some of it was just logic (of these 4 numbers, which is the lowest, and they would have like .400, .04, 40, etc) but I have a strong feeling I will have trouble with the head math questions.

Other than that, I got all pumped up that I was going to start running again tonight after work (I took a 3 week break from working out regularly cause my knees really started bugging me again and I was being moody) and its supposed to start raining at 3pm :( bah!

    Its monday.
  • Morning ladies!

My weekend was spent tending the dog and husband. I'm off today to take H to his procedure. Gotta go get dressed and head out soon.

    Have a good day ladies!!

    Happy Monday!

Good luck to Mr. kdjoseph. What kind of procedure is he having? Best of luck and speedy recovery to him!

I had to drive to work in the fog and more than 1/2 the fuckers on the road didn't have their lights on. I counted 6 almost-accidents. If you encounter fog and it doesn't cross your mind to turn on your lights so other people can see your car, you are too stupid to drive. Ugh.

Mr. Bec surprised me with a scooter this weekend! It's AMAZING. I can't wait to get my motorcycle license and drive it to work this summer. I was REALLY excited, until I realized how many fucking morons are on the road for my commute via the fog this morning.
  • Good morning. I have nothing exciting to report.

I wish I had been around more for the night thread, FH and I are sort of car shopping. Right now we have a Yaris and we need something slightly larger. It's just too small for our camping gear and the dog. The two top contenders are a CRV and an Outback. I'd prefer the wagon but they're really both larger than what I would like to park in the city.

  • Bec, what kind of scooter did you get?  I had a 250 step-through that I adore.  I wish I could drive it here, but my dad loves driving it around his town.

You should look into the motorcycle safety courses offered at the CCs around.  It's a really good course, lasts two weekends, and allows you to skip the "permit" stage and the driving test at the DMV.
  • Morning!

My weekend was pretty average.  I cooked a lot of "healthy" meatballs and had some leftover bananas and made some GF banana bread that was pretty amazing.  I've been having belly issues lately with my lunches (it seems I could eat anything and it would hurt) so I'm bringing shakes this week to see if that will let my stomach settle and allow me to work out (stomach pain =/= good workout).  I wonder how many people will ask if I'm dieting....
  • Morning!
Mehg, it seems like you are always going to fun costume parties. It's been awhile since I've dressed up for anything. That is awesome.

    It's Monday, blah.

But it's my wedding week. Yay! It's so weird, I have mad butterflies already today. Might be hard to work for the next 3 days!

  • Jenna that's so exciting!  Do you have a lot of last minute things to do?
  • good morning!

I came in today to a huge stack of shiz to do. I also have to have my goals and all that crap written up for the next year. bleh.

Yesterday, I had the big March of Dimes walk, and it was pretty awesome. My company had over 1,000 employees walking and they don't have a final total yet, but are pretty sure we raised over 225k. It was a lot of fun, but holy crap was it a long walk after being a slug for the past 6-7 weeks. I came home and took a 2.5 hour nap and was still in bed by 9.

  • I have craptons of little things to do, like wrapping parent gifts and getting everything in order. But I feel good about things. I mean, I finished my programs yesterday and actually told people where the rehearsal dinner would be so I'm right on track! LOL.

Edie, maybe I'll have to find a song to listen to. I've been really into a teeny bopper song -"Call Me Maybe" lately. I'll make it my wedding week jam. :)

Sorry to hear you're feeling so crappy, Lbarr!! Stomach issues are the pits. :(

That's the one! I'm a little embarrassed by how much fun I have dancing to that in the car.

<div>Hey! I just met you... and this is Craaazy.  ::cough:: I mean what is that song?  I've never heard of it.</div><div>
</div><div>It is what it is with the stomach issues.  I've almost grown used to it, if that makes sense.  FI is starting to get annoyed listening about it though so I need to find a solution ;)</div>
  • Thanks Edie!

Celtic, have you checked out the Mazda CX-5? It's at the top of my list for my next car. I can't decide between it and the Volvo C-30, but I think for the price, maintenance and gas mileage I'll probably go with the Mazda. It's a good mix of small size and ample storage.

    <div>I got a Genuine Buddy 125. I can't wait to trick it out! :) It's a vintage-looking scooter, but tops at 65MPH, so it will go. </div><div>
</div><div>Jon already has me hooked up with some courses that will do just that. I picked out a poppy red armored and vented trench coat, so next I need a helmet and some shoes to keep under the seat to use, because I didn't have any close-toed, lace up shoes to wear yesterday. All my shoes are heels or slip-on flats. Go figure! </div>

There are tons of opportunities for theme parties down here. That's definitely something I'm going to miss when we move to VA this summer.

LBarr, stomach issues are no fun.  I hope you feel better soon.

  • Bec that looks great but unfortunately we need to go for an older model. We don't want to have a car payment so we are looking for something around an '04.

I like the Mazda hatchbacks and wagons and my mother actually works for a Mazda dealer (really far from us though). FH just doesn't seem sold on a Mazda but I'm not really sure why.

Oh my freaking GOD i am absolutely horrified by this - http://news.ca.msn.com/top-stories/dogs-throat-slashed-in-grooming-accident-1 - I have no reason to take my dog to the groomers, but if I did I would be a bag of nerves after reading this. WTF?!

Also, arent mazda's more expensive to fix cause the parts are all different? Ive heard that from a few people I know who own them.

  • We have a Jeep Compass and I love it.  I think when it's time to upgrade from that we'll probably get a Grand Cherokee.  I've had two grand Cherokees in the past and loved them.

  • Celtic, check Ebay for cars.  I got my Camry on Ebay for significantly less than the KBB value back in 2006, and my dad got his old CRV on Ebay back in 2001 too.  But I would recommend buying from a dealership via Ebay rather than an individual seller.  That's what we did and it worked out great.

I actually flew from IN to FL to pick up my Camry, then drove it back home.  Even with the plane ticket and gas to get back it was still way cheaper than buying the same car locally would have been.  But if you're not crazy like me, you can restrict the search to just your area.
