Bachelorette Party

For those of you who have input, do you know what you're doing for yours?

I want to do something non-traditional (the whole, let's go out and drink isn't really for me...) and hopefully include my 13 year old Junior Bridesmaid and maybe even the Moms.

I know we're having it over Labor Day weekend, and in my hometown outside of Philly.  We're holding my shower the same weekend.  Any ideas?  Right now we're hoping there will be an Eagles pre-season game :D

Re: Bachelorette Party

  • What about a spa day?
    ExerciseMilestone image
  • We are either going to go to NYC for a weekend or we will be doing a spa day- I would be super excited about either one!
  • Ah that would be great to go to a football game!

I did a quick search on Ticketmaster and Sugarland is at the Allentown Fairgrounds on Sept. 2.  Probably more concerts will announce dates soon.

An all day spa trip is always a good option for a group of girls too.  You can probably get some good discounts for a group.

Another idea, and this was so much fun for me when I did it with a group of girls recently...we chartered a fishing boat for the day.  The captain baits all the hooks and does most of the work, and that would pretty much be an all day trip, but it sure is untraditional!

Just some thoughts!  Good luck :)

  • I probably should have mentioned that you pretty much have to drag me to the Spa.  I don't really like people touching me.  I suffer through manicures because I like the way they look...I don't even really like it when the hairdresser shampoos you...

The other ideas are great!  Keep them coming :D

LOL  I'm trying to think of things that a 13 year old could participate in.  My other ideas that might not include her are going to a comedy club or  a wine tasting (not "going out drinking" per se, just a classy tasting).

<div>If we were doing everything in this area, I would do a wine tasting in a heart beat!  </div><div>
</div><div>The going out drinking doesn't really work for me because I get migraines, so I can't really do shots and drink real heavily.  I can do a wine tasting because I stick to white wines and it's paced throughout the day.  I also don't particularly like the environments of clubs...but that's probably because I'm usually the DD...haha.</div>

  • If you enjoy museums you could "museum hop" instead of bar hop. :) Also how about spending the day in an amusement park?

  • My girls are throwing a sex toy party on a Friday night. There will be lots of wine and snacks. The next day we're checking into a hotel with a spa in Annapolis and we're doing spa activities. Finishing the night off with dinner and drinks at the Melting Pot and possibly taking a stroll on the bay. My little sister and MOH is still under 21 so we tried to think of things she'd be able to participate in.
  • If I have my way, I won't be having one.

I don't want one since they're not really my style, and because there is no feesable time for us to have one due to a 3,000+ mile gap between my MOH and one bridesmaid and my other bridesmaid.

yeah, my MOH and other bridesmaid won't even be at the shower since when my bridesmaid out here wants to schedule it, they will both be out of country; one visiting family in Switzerland, and the other visiting her boyfriend's family in Russia; so even doing them on the same day is out of the question.

I would totally go if it was at Hershey Park! I haven't been there since I was little!

I'm looking forward to mine, but I'm definitely not a "go all out crazy drinking" kind of back party girl.  We may go to AC or somewhere in Manhattan and do a nice dinner then get drinks at a more loungy places.

  • well, i am not really a go out and get drunk kind of girl, but i def like to do it once in a blue moon and my bach party will be that :) it is making everyone laugh that i want this , b/c i almost never drink - not even wine at dinner, etc. also, a lot of our wedding is a litle offbeat, so people are surprised i want this. but i really love going out and dancing with my friends and doing some shots and just having a good time every once in a great while, so that is the plan. i live near atlantic city and have been to enough bach parties there to know that they have what i am looking for :)

kat - a nice meal would be awesome... if you don'd mind throwing down some $, have you considered going to a nice restaurant with a tasting menu? it can add a really fun spark to a regular meal and it is fun not knowing what you will be eating. plus, the meals tend to last a long time, so it feels like an event. if you like japanese, we have done morimoto's in philly  a few times and it is awesome! the food is delish, the decor very cool and one time we even saw the chef himself! in philly, i would also recommend "the continental" - they advertise their menus as "global tapas" and everyone shares everything and they bring it out in a haphazard order, so it is a fun way to eat dinner.

  • These are all great ideas! I have no idea what we are doing for mine. My MH is very anti-clubbing, and while I'm not a big partier, I would like to do a little bar hopping for my bach, but we'll see. Those are all some great suggestions though, thanks!

  • My bachorlette party is going to be in July or August because the MOH is due in September and wants to plan it and be there.  She asked me what I wanted to do and I suggested going to dinner at someplace like Chino latinos, and then going to see an 80s cover band or just going to the bars.  Nothing that takes lots of planning just telling people where and when to be places if they want to join us.

  • Right now my MOH is planning a Vegas trip for us...we'll prob catch some shows and walk around the casinos and go shopping :-) I'm not a huge drinker, but I'll probably have some drinks while I'm there...not used to being able to walk around with an alcoholic drink on the streets!

We are doing a girls weekend at my house in July.    So the girls are all coming over Friday night for a cruise on the lake , a bonfire and some cocktails.  Saturday we will get up and chill around the pool and go out on the boat... and then Satruday night the limo company we hired for our wedding gave us a party bus from 10p - 3a for really cheap so we will go out on Saturday night.  There are a couple of reasons we are doing the whole weekend.  My FI is the last of his friends to get married and previously they have gone on extreme bachelor parties while the girls have just stayed home.  So this way the guys stay home with the kids for a weekend and the girls get their fun.  The other thing is that all of my girls have kids.  This way they can come for all of the party or just some of it.  One of my BM for example is not coming over Friday but will come all day Saturday and go out Saturday night and one of my friends is pregnant and will hang with us Saturday during the day but will prob skip the bar.  Works out for everybody involved!!
  • A friend of mine went to a pottery painting party at a local pottery shop, everyone had a blast. I believe they went out for dinner afterwards

  • I am trying to convince my MOH to do a pajama party/sleepover. Everyone wears their funkiest pajamas, my shower will also be that day, so the theme would also be sleepwear (lingerie for honeymoon, cute undies and fuzzy slippers) and then we will have a few drinks, watch movies, eat popcorn. There may or may not be a bra in the freezer by the end of the night ;)

  • My bachelorette party will be held the same evening as the bridal shower to help accommodate for the bridesmaids who lives out of state.

We're planning a dinner out that the moms can attend, and then we're going our separate ways.  One of the options was a comedy club (not sure if that will work with your 13 yr old).

There are also other options. What do you like to do?  Movies, mini golf, picnics, museums, touring gardens?  The party should match your pace.  If you're not a drinker, then perhaps everyone could get together and help make a meal.  Or plans a progressive dinner (each part of the meal is held at a different location)?
  • I'm having a champagne brunch.
