stupid MAC hookers

Sooo, I thought I'd try getting my make up done at MAC as a trial run for the wedding. I had a second engagement pic session so I thought this would be a great time to do it. She did everything I told her NOT to do AND my face looked super shiny in my pics! I was wearing enough make up for 5 whores. Lets just say I'll be doing my own face and thank Jesus I did a practice run! Anyone else have this problem? Oh and btw, I went to the MAC girl that had done BEAUTIFUL work on my niece a number of times so I thought I'd be safe.

  • I've never had a problem at MAC.  It sucks about your pics, but iIf anything wasn't looking right, why didn't you say something there?  Whenever I've gone, they've been pretty receptive to what I did and did not want (and I have very specific, no-whore preferences that they've always followed.
  • I was VERY specific with her before we started. And yes, I was given a mirror but I was already so late for my photo shoot, I left. I didnt want her touching my face anymore. I wiped some of it off in the car for my pics.

Actually, I'm going to be a complete AW threadjacker about it because I wanted opinions anyway. I felt like I had WAY too much makeup on, but my MOH is still fighting me over it. WDYT?

  • Not just MAC, any makeup trial I get I always look like a oompa loompa. I'm very pale skinned (like glow in the dark white). So no matter how many times I tell them no bronzer& don't let me look orange, I always look like a crazy orange hooker.

I think it looks nice. Then again, I wear a lot of black eyeliner normally, so I might have a bit of a skewed perspective.

The color on the lips is a bit bolder than I'd ever wear, but that's just my preference as well.

ETA: I looked at it again, it's not as red red as I thought.
  • I can't really tell fromt hat pic, MIAF, but it doesn't seem like that much.  Maybe from a different angle it was?

I have had to be pretty specific about what I want when getting my makeup done, but I think that's anywhere.  Like, MAC sells a bunch of dramatic eyeshadow colors, so I had to say, "I'm a teacher.  I cannot show up to work with aqua eyeshadow.  Don't use that."  And they've been really helpful.

I thought you had to make a $40 purchase when they did the makeup.  OP, did you buy the products?

MIAF-I still love your IU shirt!

YEAH. I agree. And she put on gloss. It looked much different in person. I could actually see the mascara on my lashes, it was that thick.

I dunno.. Ive never had an issue with mac but then again with my skin tone it takes a lot of makeup to look like "too much". Generally.. things fade into my skin and it looks like I have nothing on.

edit: and I dont mean that I look great and makeup-style natural. I mean I look like I just woke up.

yes, you have to spend $50 to get the free HOOKER MAKEOVER. I bought products, but nothing she used on me. i told her it was way more than i usually wear but didnt want her to touch me anymore with her paint brushes so i spent $45 on stuff i would actually used and peaced out.

OP- I don't think it looks bad. Of course, since you took some off, maybe that's why it's not terrible.

MILF- I think your makeup looks nice. But your makeup artist looks like a Jamie Curtis drag queen.
  • I thought it was a given - MAC reps usually pile on the eyeshadow.

I've had makeup done at Clinique (had to purchase 3 products) and it came out nice, not heavy whored out
  • Whuut?? You look great fatty!
    image
  • Fatchunk, I think you look great!

I only bought one $12 eyeshadow from my trial because I didn't like anything. Sorry, MAC lady.

I just felt uncomfortable. I wear makeup frequently, but usually not heavy makeup.

When I had my make-up done for my B-pictures, and the wedding I felt like I was made up like a hooker also. But both times I was told it's typical for photoshoots to have more make-up then normal.

And both times they were correct, it may feel like a lot but it looks awesome in the photos.

BTW- you e-pics are just lovely, you are very pretty. But Im with CS on your sn.

  • I thought I looked like a prostitution whoor when I got my makeup done for my engagement pics/wedding, but I'm really happy with how I look in my pictures.

And I also kinda like looking like a whoor. I love heavy makeup.

  • Can I call you Fatty even if you are totally thin?

  • MAC counters are hit or miss..

I think you look great in the photos though...

Clinique totally lied to you about having to purchase 3 products.. I work for them and most counters just make that up to make it worth their time. Its definitely not required.
    I didn't say this though. :D
  • ha! thanks everyone. when my fiance and i chose the "fatchunk" name, i didnt know it would be for all to see. its kinda an inside joke for the two of us. and yes, you may all call me fat, fatty, fatchunk, whatever.
thanks for your lovely comments on my pics =]

A lot of the times you need more makeup for photography or film sessions, the lights wash out your skin so you need certain colors and whatnot to give you a more flattering appearance. When I do TV interviews they always made me wear dark lipstck that I thought made me look like a hooker, but on film it looked totally normal.

Regardless, they should have done what you wanted. Did you not have any kind of mirror so you could monitor the progress and make suggestions? I have no idea what MAC even is. My SIL sells Mary Kay products so she did my makeup for free, and did exactly what I told her to do. If she didn't, I would have just done it myself.

ETA--you look great in your pics.

  • Hi.. I am a lurker but I had to comment on this... have you seen your pictures yet? I got my makeup done by MAC for my engagement and bridal pics. It was very heavy makeup but the pictures look great! It did not look like I had on too much at all. On wedding day I definitely want to tone it down, but I liked having all the layers on because I did not sweat it off. My face was shiny while I was taking pics but I just used the touch up powder. I am sure your pics will look great!

<div>This is me too. I stay away from MAC or all my paychecks would go there. The other day I literally wore so much eye make-up and fake eyelashes that it tired my eye lids to wear it longer that 30 minutes.</div><div>
