Do we really need a limo?

early stages of planning, so forgive me for my millions of forums posts to come.....let me give u a run down of the plans so far...

Ceremony at flamingo hotel, assume everyone will stay at flamingo, we are going to hire a photograper for pre and post wedding pics.( debating if we should pay the $150 to let him take pics in ceremony, or just go with the pics included in ceremony package....havent even spoken to the flamingo wedding planners to see if we could opt out of their photo package, if we should pick a cheaper package and add things al a carte that we want, etc...if u know how this works let me know!

after ceremomy, me and FI go and take pics on the strip and at the las vegas sign....after that, dinner with guests at a buffet where we will cut cake. after that....who knows.

we have a one hour limo included in the package we chose so far (orchid package)...but im wondering if we need a limo for the entire day, considering we are going to stay on the strip (ive never been to vegas so i dont know how big the strip is, but ive heard its small. If the photographer is ok with walking, i can only see us using the limo to get to the sign. so should i get one for the entire day?

Re: Do we really need a limo?

  • the strip is definitely not small from a walking standpoint:) The casinos themselves are huge, so walking between them is a good stretch - and if you're all dolled up in heels you aren't going to want to be hiking around that much - if its in your package most definitely keep you - you'll be happy you did :)

congratulations on your engagement and on picking vegas!!

  • Limo could be quite expensive if you did an all day thing but look into a nice town car or SUV as an alternative; those can often be rented for half the hourly rate of a limo, and can get into more places so you'll probably save time that way as well.  I know Earth Limos rents nice SUV's because I saw one on my most recent trip; I'm sure the other well known companies do as well.

You definitely don't want to walk the strip unless you're doing it for exercise lol.  It would take a couple hours to walk from Mandalay to the Stratosphere for example, and that's the bulk of the strip even though its only four miles.  Cross walks, bridges you have to take, people everywhere, etc. all slow you down, not to mention taking photos.

  • Have you planned what you will do with your guests while taking photos? You can do a photo tour and take your guests along on like a Double Decker Bus or something or have them do that while you're taking photos.

I agree with the others you're not going to want to walk down the strip with your dress and in heels as it's usually crowded for one and your dress will probably really, really dirty as opposed to driving. You don't need the limo all day but I'd probably use it for the photo tour.
  • I have NO idea what to do with the guests while we are going taking pictures....they are all gamblers, so id assume thats what they would do?? I honestly have no idea what I should do with them.... this is so hard :-( but fun :-)

  • that sounds like a better option, as i dont see all the gueasts piling into a limo to watch us take pics...... so if i did this, would i just tell them "meet us at such and such restaurant at 6pm for dinner" and its their job to get there? is that rude? I dont know the proper ettiqutte lol.... but then again, it is MY responsibility to get to peoples receptions at home 4 hours after the ceremony.
