Hair Removal

Re: Hair Removal

  • i just had my last laser appointment (hopefully) for the bikini area.  5 moderately painful sessions to hopefully never have to deal with shaving/epilating "down there" ever again.  If it really holds (there's been a lot of hair reduction, slowed growth and thinner remaining hairs), then it'll be money well spent to always be lingerie-ready and not have to worry about things like 70s hair during the 3rd trimester, etc.
  • Oh man, some of the posts here are making me laugh so much, and I'm trying so hard to contain myself, because I don't want to have to explain what I'm laughing about to anyone!

But yeah, I shave for now.  After I'm finished with school my lady bits and I are going laser all the way!

  • I have tried both laser hair removal (about 4 months) and electrolysis (8 months) and neither of them worked for me.  I later found out they work extremely well for dark coarse hair and not very well for fine light hair, which is what I have.  For eyebrows and lip I get either waxed or threaded, depending on the person doing it's preference or tweeze myself.  I'll use an epilady on my arms and razor below the belt.  I do plan to get waxed before my wedding.  I do have a high pain tolerence, but I always pop a couple of ibuprophen and hour before hand, and try to time it right (pain does increase b4 your .)
Personally, I can't let my leg hair grow for long enough to get waxed or use the epiladay, and it is expensive.
  • Ok, I don't usually post such personal stuff, but here goes. (It's all for you Mandy!)

I've gotten waxed several times. A bunch of times about 7-8 years ago, then just shaving because it's cheaper. I decided before the wedding to go get waxed so I wouldn't have to worry about any of it and it was fine. Eyebrows, mustache, underarms, legs and bikini. It hurts, but I've been through worse.

I decided last week to get waxed again and got a bad skin reaction from it in the more delicate places. Apparently the skin on your faces is thinner than your legs/underarms, and more likely to react badly if the wax is tainted. So, yeah, I decided the universe was telling me never to wax again. :( I'm so mad because a) I researched the place, read reviews, etc to make sure I was going to a reputable place and b) I had to take a day off of work to go to the doctor and felt/looked like shiit for a few days.

I know this isn't everyone's experience and I never thought it would happen to me but, there you go. I will never wax again.

  • I think Kentucky Kate got first degree burns on her face from getting waxed right before her wedding.

  • I get my brows waxed. Everything else I shave with the Shick men's razor with four blades. I almost got waxed for the wedding, but decided not to because I waited too long to decide that I wanted to.

I would get waxed. I go to a waxing studio for my brows, and they have all sorts of packages.

I need to deal with my rash first, though. Just because I don't want the waxer (waxist?) to think I have the funk. I don't even know if my rash has ever affected that area. But just in case.
