Hi there!

I joined the Knot right after getting engaged (this past NYE) but never clicked on "Community" until yesterday. I'm really glad I did click on it. This forum looks like it will be very helpful and everyone seems so nice! I just wanted to say hi and congratulations to all of the July '12 brides!

Here's a real quick intro to me:
I'm from the DC area, but getting married in Baltimore, as that's where I met my fiance. We started dating September 2002, so our wedding will be almost 10 years after we met! Our engagement will be about 18 months, mainly because my FI is in medical school so we had to plan around his vacation schedule (and 6 months was not going to be nearly long enough!). He lives in London, and I just accepted a job offer there so I will be moving over there at the end of June. I'm very excited but also nervous about the move, and a little overwhelmed right now. I'm trying to take care of the major wedding planning items before I move, because after June, I'll have to plan everything from abroad.

Okay, enough about me! I look forward to learning about you all and planning along with you ladies over the next ~13 months!

    Welcome! Congrats! I was also a member of TK for like 2 years before I even got into the boards. Lol! I think I always saw it but didn't really get what it was about or how it worked. Now I'm definitely glad I checked it out. All the girls here are super helpful.

    That's exciting about you moving to London! I'm living with FI in Ecuador. After I finished college I moved here to live with him. Our wedding will be here though. I recommend you also check out the International Nesties board on The Knot's sister site called The Nest. I know it's supposedly for newlyweds but I just checked it out a few weeks ago and I really like it. There's a few brides on there too so not all are married. The girls are really nice and a good several of them planned their weddings from abroad. So once you're at that stage, they can help give you good tips for planning a wedding while away. :)

    Welcome and Congrats!  Good luck with your move to London.  I visit often because the company I work for has an office in Bracknell which is not far from London!

    Welcome to the board! Very cool that you're moving to London. My FI works in financial services and we always wanted to work in Europe for a couple years before having kids but since financial services is sh!t now, that's probably not gonna happen, lol. 

    You must be busy planning, what have you gotten done so far?

    Thanks everyone for the welcome, and thank you Nati05 for the tip about the international board - great idea!

    So far, I have a venue booked for the reception (a funky art museum in downtown Baltimore) but still looking for the ceremony location. I got my dress last weekend and I think we are about to sign with a caterer this week. I think the major thing left to get done before my move is finding a ceremony location. We are having some trouble because we want to do it in a church, but the ones we contacted said they don't accomodate "destination" weddings, but we don't live in Baltimore anymore so we don't have a local church. It is a little frustrating, but hopefully we will work something out.

    Well check out the non-denomination churches to see if they will accommodate you.

    Also, I wish I lived in that London...Instead I'm in London, Kentucky.  

    One day, I'll head across the pond!
