Hey ladies, I'm back to give a recap for my 10/9 wedding.
Friday
The day started off so wrong. I got a call from the cake baker about my topper being missing. This is the only vendor that made me cry. To top it off he wanted to replace it with some tacky topper. I called my florist after I got off the phone with him and she told me not to stress over it. I was so over it I didn't even tell her how to decorate the cake since flowers weren't in the original plan. FI and I ran some last minute errands too. Later that night we had our rehearsal and the bridal party got to meet each other. The BM I was worried about showed up and her hair was not orange! The venue coordinator called me earlier that week to tell me that they had double booked the room. To make a long story short, we worked out a time in a different room but we weren't allowed access to the venue when we got there. Our planner made a call to the manager and sorted out the issue. I'm so grateful that she took care of everything.
Saturday
We went to church and had a really good time. I got to see all of our family and friends from out of town at church and after church we headed to our house for lunch/dinner. We invited all of our family members, wedding party, and guests from out of town. It was my mom's birthday and we surprised her with a cake and had everyone sing happy birthday to her. She had no idea that we had anything planned for her birthday.
After dinner my cousin and I headed to the hotel. We got to the hotel about 8pm. I later found out that people did not go home from the dinner until after midnight.
The girls wanted to do something fun that night but it was raining so much. We stayed in and the BMs got their hair done. The hairdresser slept over at the hotel with us in case of an emergency on the day of etc. I thought that was really sweet of her. The plan was to go to bed early but that didn't happen. We stayed up talking and having fun and I found out that one of my BM was being a DIVA the whole weekend. We all had a good laugh about this.
Sunday
I was up bright and early at 6am. The makeup artist and my mom arrived at at 6:30 am. My appt for makeup was 9:30am. While the girls were getting their makeup done, I ate breakfast, took a shower and then my hair stylist came by to do my hair. I'm surprised I even ate breakfast, I ate so much of it too lol. I wore a silk closure with none of my natural hair left out; I was too worried about my natural hair frizzing in the humidity and the weave was the best choice for me considering the weather. The photographer and videographer arrived at 10am and did their thing. The wearther was really bad and we were worried for a bit about our vendors being late but they were so professional. Our florist delivered the flowers and headed back to the venue to work her magic. The photog and videographer captured me getting ready, FI getting ready and got some details shots. The time went by so quickly. Before I knew it, it was time for the first look. FI and I saw each other and got some really creative shots. We ran with the photographer's ideas so I'm waitng to see how those shots turned out. We couldn't do our outside shots like we planned but I didn't let that get me down.We took some photos with our parents and then headed downstairs to get into the limo. We arrived at the venue on time and I thought everything was set and ready to go but FI and his GM had not arrived at the venue. I later found out that they were delayed by the valet parking guys at the hotel.
We started a little late but I got a preview of the ceremony space and it was gorgeous. The room was a little bigger than I wanted it but didn't fuss about it. I walked in to the instrumental part of "the one he kept for me". Our soloist was the bomb. The ceremony was perfect but we went longer than anticipated and I wanted to strangle my pastor. He didn't come to the rehearsal and even though we discussed keeping it short, the ceremony went on for 1 hour and 15 mins. Yes it was that long and were standing the whole time. My feet were killing me but I got through it. FI and I locked eyes the whole time and it was almost as if it were just the two of us there.
We took more pics during the cocktail hour. The limo driver brought me and my hubby (married now) some hor dourves and we went on a romantic drive. We got to talk to each other and reflect on the ceremony and just have a special moment.. just the two of us. The reception was a blast, we ate, danced and partied with out guests. The photobooth was a big hit and our guests raved about the food. Overall, we had an a great day! Feels so good to be finally married.
No pro pics yet but here are some from friends.
