I think I am going to be sick.

We set up our room block website with our hotel (which is our ceremony/reception location) this week.  I was about to post it to our wedding website, but wanted to check if there were better rates first.  When I ran a search for hotel rooms for our weekend...they are all sold out!  I called and confirmed with the hotel.

We only did a block of 15 rooms--the hotel coordinator recommended we start there and add others later if needed.  We're expecting a minimum of 70 out of town guests.  There's is only one other hotel nearby, and its 2-3 times more expensive.

I feel nauseous :(

Oh no!! Take a deep breath though! Have you tried all those sites like Expedia, Travelocity, etc.? Sometimes they reserve their own rooms. Try Kayak.com, they always find the best rates and availability even when other sites don't have it.

Maybe your planer can help you figure something out. Don't worry, it will get resolved somehow!

Where are you getting married? Maybe we can help look!

Try hotelplanner.com. My daughter got married in February- the weekend of the Food and Wine festival. When we were looking for hotel rooms on our own, everything was sold out. I tried hotelplanner.com and got tons of responses with openings. Good luck. Hope this helps.

We checked and didn't find anything going on in town that weekend.  We're at the Hilton Singer Island.  Several other hotels are totally booked.  There is one next door but the rate is 2-3 times higher.

I just don't understand, why, after recommending we only start with 15 rooms, and while setting up the block this week, they didn't say anything about almost being totally booked.

did you check the marriott singer island?

The Marriott seems to have rooms (no others hotels on the island do).  But all the wedding planning staff at the Hilton are off on Sunday and Monday...so I am waiting to hear back, in the offchance they can miraculously find some rooms in their hotel.

Please cross your fingers for us!

I feel your pain. We have a guest list of about 200 ppl and I expect a lot of people to come, but w/ the hotel we booked a contract booking was too much pressure b/c you have to pay if you don't fill 80%... so we did a soft block starting w/ 15 rooms and adding more once we fill it up. However it will be March in Ft. Lauderdale, which means it will be busy, and I dont know what to do... It's a sucky situation. I hope you are able to find more rooms!! Best of luck!

Thanks for the words of encouragement.  The hotel can't tell me whether they have more rooms or not...they said they might be able to tell me tomorrow.  If we can get 20 more rooms, I'm willing to do the 80/20% block you have to pay for if it isn't met...I know we can fill it...I just need them to give me the rooms.

    Happy Monday to everyone!

What about checking some of the hotels on PGA Boulevard?  It's a bit further, but a straight shot.  There's the Embassy Suites, another Marriott, I think a Courtyard Marriott too!
