Dragon themed wedding help

So my fiance and i are going to do a dragon themed (with blue and black colors) wedding. it's one of the few things that we both like. we are going to do the tables at the reception after dragons from books/movies. HOWEVER i need help on figuring out how to do the escort cards. as well as need help with invitations. the only ones i find are either for kid parties or chinese new year/wedding which is NOT how our's is going to be. the other way i find invites is with a pheonix which is not what we want either (two dragons please).
PLEASE someone help...

I'm so sorry...but this is just a strange idea. Now, I think dragons are great. I even play some silly dragon game on my iphone. It just doesn't seem like a good idea for an adult event like a wedding. Unless the dragon is a symbolic part of your culture (which it appears it's not)...I'd strongly advise you to rethink this idea.

Could you have a dragon as part of your cake or cake topper and leave all of the other decorations in just your colors? Something smaller and subtler?

    <div>There is a reason for this.</div><div>
</div><div>Having a dragon-themed wedding doesn't mean everything has to have a dragon on it (unless it's a kid's brithday party or chinese new year).   Maybe just use a font that's inspired by your favorite dragon movie or book?    </div>

[QUOTE]I agree this sounds a bit odd, and I would be a bit uncomfortable as a guest. That said, I picked up  these  at an office supply store and printed my own.  That allowed me to customize it more easily.

<div>That's what we used too.  Easy peasey.   Still doesn't mean that everything needs a dragon, but I agree that it gives you more creative control over what is on the cards:-)</div>

  • Ehh, this doesnt seem like a good idea. Like cove says above, weddings dont need a theme. I do like the colors blue & black together tho, so I think that part can stay. I like all of the PPs suggestions on how to incorporate this dragon idea....something small like the cake topper, or just using the font, but dont buy anything with dragon decor on it. They are in the kids section for a reason. This is your wedding, not a birthday party. Good luck!

  • I'm not trying to make EVERYTHING dragon. I just need ideas on how to incorporate dragons in little ways. The cake topper is of two dragons making a heart. I dont need the invites to have a big picture of a dragon or anything. Just an idea of how to do something with dragon but still elegant (like the two hearts invite one can find at Michael's). I guess I cannot do dragons on the escort cards...

    Here's what I want to be dragon-like:
    cake topper (check)
save the date (did a bookmark with a seperate magnet pic of us) (so check)
    invite

that's all! the center pieces are flowers (roses), no dragons (except for the names that will be printed on paper). the bridemaids' dresses are in the colors (no dragons). the guys' flowers are going to be simple small flowers.

No need to get upset that we misunderstood you thinking that you're going over the top on a strange theme. You are the one who titled your post "Dragon Themed Wedding Help", not us.

So you're insistent on dragon invitations. I'm not a fan, but here's an idea. If you have a picture of a dragon you like, you could probably reach out to a custom artist on Etsy and as them to make a design for you based around that picture.

It looks like this seller (and probably others, if you look) will design a custom invitation suite for you for $100. You can then print on your own paper or cardstock if you're looking to DIY.

  • I'm sorry to everyone. I did not mean to make my previous post sound snappy. I just wanted to clarify what I wanted.

Apparently my fiance knows of a couple of aspiring artists. Thus we're going to use them. Thank you anyways.
  • This is another post where I understand the defensiveness of the OP... the replies come across very judgemental, particularly when she's asking for help with very specific things and not at all asking for a comment regarding whether you share her taste or disagree with it. If she was asking what you thought of the theme, that would be different.

I like weddings that stand out and are reflective of the bride and groom. I just went to a Mario-Themed wedding and it was brilliant and tasteful. I think you could have touches of dragon that can look lovely. I tried to hyperlink a lot below. Hopefully it comes out easily...it's all black as I'm typing it.

This is an elegant idea for a cake you could use the blue and black in the scroll work.
Cake Topper, Wine glasses, Personalized invites with an elegant dragon,... or perhaps just do a dragon STD with Black and blue invites to minimize the dragon theme?

For the wedding tables, perhaps the names of famous dragons?
