Which strip hotel has the best bang for the buck?

My fiance and I are eloping to Las Vegas in three weeks to get married. We used the website www.visitlasvegas.com to locate some great hotel deals, but don't have a clue which one to choose. Our only two requirements are that the hotel be on the strip and that it cost less than $75/night to stay there. So far these are our choices:

Luxor
Riviera
Stratosphere
Excalibur
Circus
Circus
Imperial Palace

Any suggestion where we should stay and what their wedding chapels are like?

We've stayed at the Stratosphere before, it's alright. It's got a bus stop right out front. I'd stay there again.

We've also stayed at the Luxor - they have varying prices and qualities of rooms, we got the cheapest and it took FOREVER to get to our room from the casino. Probably wouldn't stay there again.

Stayed at the Excalibur - they don't have bathtubs in their bathrooms (only showers). We upgraded to a 'hot tub suite' and ended up in a room near the elevator shaft and heard elevators and other tubs running all night. I would stay there again, but in a tub-free room. (and I have, and it's a pretty fair deal for the price)

Circus Circus has TONS of kids ... haven't stayed there, but wouldn't recommend it based on friends reviews there.

Well, from the very start, any Total Rewards hotel (aka Caesars and non-MGM) will save you $25/night due to the lack of a resort fee...

Some recent knotties have posted that the chapel at IP has been redone and looking good!

Just a personal opinion but wedding up high in the Stratosphere sounds awesome too!

Sorry I cannot be of more help with actually staying on strip... but you've got some great advice above and you're sure to get more from this good group!

We're booked at the Skyline Chapel at IP for our wedding, and it's gorgeous! They have super affordable ceremony packages! I've heard mixed reviews about the rooms, I know at some point they'll be remodeling but I'm not sure when.

We're planning on staying at the Flamingo, the rates are still affordable, and the rooms look a bit nicer. They also have cheap wedding packages at Flamingo, and several locations for ceremonies. A chapel, two gazebos, the waterfall [for just a few guests], and the crescendo pool.

stratesphere is far down the strip..too far to walk to the main things on the strip. My brother worked at IP and told us its pretty run down but it is in the middle of everything going on!

I've stayed in Circus Circus a lot of times growing up and I like it fine... But maybe not the kind of wedding vibe you might be going for. (Also PPs are right, lots of kids/families because of the atmosphere and cheaper room rates...)

I guess out of all the choices you listed I'd go with the Excalibur. The Stratosphere is a little too far for my liking like PPs mentioned, and the other hotels seem a bit run down.

Out of the choices you said, I would choose IP due to the location and I saw the wedding chapel was renovated. There is not a whole lot going on down by the Riviera and Stratosphere, so I would say no to those, just my opinion!

I would actually go with the wedding at IP and then stay at Harrah's and under $75 a night. It's right in the middle of the strip and the rooms are nice enough. Not gross like the rooms at the IP are and not too far towards either end of the strip like some of the other hotels you've mentioned. Out of your list I'd stay maybe at the Luxor, but its far from lots of things.

JMO though.

Tropicana has some good rates depending on which nights you are staying on, and they went under a complete remodel last year.

Regarding Luxor, I'd recommend the tower rooms over the pyramid rooms if you do go that route; the tower was remodeled much more recently than the pyramid and other than the novelty of sideways elevators, there's not much reason to stay in the pyramid where things are sometimes reported as marginal to dirty, and worn.

I definitely second what vegasgroom said. I stayed at the Luxor (in the pyramid) a couple of years ago and it ws run down, the bed was uncomfortable, and you have to walk kind of far to get to anything in the hotel. I haven't stayed at Excalibur since my first time in Vegas in 1994, but walking through it from the Luxor last time, it smells of smoke and has some seriously kitschy decorations.

Do you have to stay on the Strip? The Golden Nugget on Fremont Street (downtown, old school Vegas) is a 4 diamond resort, is very clean, the rooms are nice and it has a great pool with a shark tank in it. I stayed there while attending a friend's wedding a couple of years ago, and fell in love with the place.

Ditto this. The Golden Nugget will get you a lot more bang for your buck... plus lots of cheap eats nearby.

Have you considered having your wedding at a chapel not in a hotel? You would save money and be able to add to your per night budget for a hotel. If you are set on having your wedding at the hotel you are staying at, here are my opinions:

Luxor: This would be my pick based on location and accomodations.
Riviera: Too far away from mid-Strip (I like to be where the action is)
Stratosphere: diddo to Riviera
Excalibur: Too kid-friendly for my taste.
Circus Circus; WAYYY too kid friendly for my taste, too far away from mid-strip.. I wouldn't even consider this as an option.
Imperial Palace: Great location! Right in the middle of the strip. Butttt... Did you check out Flamingo? I was thinking it was within the same price-range, hotel is a little nicer and probably a great place to get married (especially if you wanna do it outdoors).

Well you are going to Vegas so why not gamble on the room you are going to stay at? for $75/night I would take a stab at a 4 or 5 star hotel on the strip using priceline or hotwire. You can use a site like http://www.betterbidding.com/ to help you find a spot.
