Senator wants to ban fetuses in your food

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-501363_162-57365294/okla-senator-wants-ban-on-human-fetuses-in-food/

I love this part - "In an e-mail to The Associated Press, U.S. Food and Drug Administration spokeswoman Pat El-Hinnawy said: 'FDA is not aware of this particular concern.'"  And then later - "I'd hate to think we're going to spend our time coming up with possibilities of things we need to stop."

  • I think this guy needs some busy work or something to keep him off the Internet.
  • This reminds me of my brother.  He used to say "lets eat us a fetus" before dinner.  My parents were not pleased.

  • He should add a 'no Zombies' clause to that bill.  Cause, you know, no one wants Zombies in their food either.

  • I cant believe you guys dont want fetuses in your food.

I mean, I get this whole overprotection now that people have become sue-happy.  But considering an aborted fetus is a biohazard, it already is illegal to put it in food I'd imagine.

This is such a waste of time and resources.
  • I've heard of people eating placentas, but I wasn't aware people were nomming fetuses.

  • Great..now I gotta change my diet again..sheesh people!..haha

  • Apparently putting placenta on your face is becoming popular for facials now.  Blech.  I saw it on...Good Morning America, maybe? I can't remember for sure.

  • Google Placenta Encapsulation. Its a real thing. ANd no, Blue, I am not hippy enough to do it.

But if you get the deluxe doula package where I took my birthing classes, they'll come to your house and encapsulate it for you. The place we took our classes was a converted house, and there was a sign on the frige/freezer that said "Placenta Only".

I'm confused. Was he talking about embryonic stem cells or actual aborted babies? Because those are different IMO.

ETA: Neither I want in my food. From what they were saying about the other bills he tried to pass, he seems a little crazy pants.
  • I honestly cannot conceive any situation where the end result would be aborted fetuses in my food.  Except maybe some guy in a candy factory who contracted rabies or something equally psychotic and he ground it up into fruit rollups or some shiit just for the hell of it, because he was nuts.

I mean, to even imagine that this would be a possibility only proves that you are either monstrously bored, or completely unhinged.  Or perhaps both.

  • You have a better chance of the fat sucked out from someone elses lipo ending up in your lips that a dead fetus in your food.

  • Hell, I heard the other day Jenny-O turkey is in trouble with OSHA because some guy got his arm severed in a processing facility.  Placenta?  Wtf
    panther
  • Yeah, I mean I know stem cell research is wanted for a lot of things, but food? Come on.

I did find a needle a few weeks ago in my packaged cheese. :( But I guess that's better than a severed arm.
  • Does this guy really think the FDA would ever allow body waste to go into our food?  I mean really.

No. I honestly wasn't sure what good it would do. It was the kind of cheese that comes in a shrink-wrapped wrapper, so it must have happened at the factory. I couldn't see it was there until I wrapped it and saw it sticking out a little bit. It was one of those pin needles that you use to pin stuff together when you're sewing.
  • Gotcha, yeah it probably would have been pretty useless to try to complain then.  But that's still scary.
