Night-of hotel recommendations?

My FI and I actually live in Indiana. but our wedding is in KC. We'll be staying in a hotel for the few nights before the wedding, but just a basic one. Does anyone have any recommendations for fancier hotels in the downtown area? Our budget is flexible (we're willing to spend up to $250 for the night) so let me know what you think!

    We are a getting a room down town.  I called the Hyatt, Westin, Marriot and Crowne Plaza.  All were under $200.00 for a suite, all three have very nice rooms.  Crowne Plaza and Marriot have been newly remodeled.  We eneded up with the Crowne Plaza.  HTH

    Have you checked out Argosy Casino Hotel and Spa? They are only about 10 min. north of down town K.C. Thier rooms are fantastic! You can see pics on line It's really worth a look.

    We are also staying at the Crowne Plaza downtown. The Marriott is also nice.

    If you are willing to stay in the Plaza (about 10-15 minutes from downtown), I'd highly recommend The Raphael Hotel. Its a stunning boutique hotel and has excellent reviews on TripAdvisor.com (rated #2 of Kansas City hotels).

    We are staying at the Chateau Avalon, and its a little under 300$ for one of their cheaper rooms, including breakfast, and a romance package (rose pedal turn down, champagne, strawberries, bubble bath etc.). All of their rooms have a 2 person jaccuzi!
