What do you do when...

your future in-law's are telling EVERYONE about your wedding?  We decided on a DW because we wanted something small and intimate with our CLOSEST family and friends, not the cousins that you haven't seen in 5 years or friends of the family that live in wherever that you see every-so-often.  It's making me feel like I have to invite them yet don't know them that well, not to mention it's increasing the guest list to waaaay past what I had envisioned.  To top the day off, I just got an email from my planner and what was supposed to be a $2,000 ceremony has now magically made it's way up to $3,900???!!!  Oh my....

Re: What do you do when...

  • I would suggest your fi talks to his family and explains to them you want to have a small intimate wedding and inviting people that aren't on your guest list is no okay.
    HTH.

  • Agreed.  The conversation is going to have to be had.

  • My FMIL was doing the same thing.  She kept sending us people's addresses so we could send them STDs.  FI finally had to tell her to stop.
