Outside Wedding: Portable Toliets

Advice needed! We are having an outside wedding this June at a friends house on a lake. We are expecting anywhere from 120-140 people. How many portable toilets do you think we will need. We are on a budget, so trying to decide between:
1. Flushable unit with handwash, will have to put lighting in it, approximately standard size $175 (could get 2)
2. Flushable unit, handwash, full length mirror, lighting, larger size (can walk around in) $250 (get 1)

Thanks!

  • The second option sounds better but I think you definitely need at least 2 for that many people.  Be sure to spiff it up on the inside if you can, maybe put a pretty air freshener or flowers if there is a place for a small vase.

  • You need at least 2, but I think 3 would be better.

I had the large flushable kind with a/c running water in the sink, holding tank etc.  It was really nice.  But if is was a choice between one large or 2 smaller I would do 2 smaller.  A nicer larger bathroom means women will spend more time in there.  More time, means longer wait lines.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I think at least 2 or 3. We did something like this when my FI graduated from college a few years ago. His parents have a huge yard and live in a private lake community. We had the party at their house. He rented 2 port-a-potties and it worked great. Of course, some of the ladies (like me) were hesitant about using them, but guys usually don't care.

I like the idea of spiffing it up, you could even hang wedding signs from the door and stuff like that.
