Vamps

Mod, Fallin, and other vamp series readers - I need a recommendation.  I have read the Anita Blake Series, the Breed series by Lara Adrian, the Argeneau series by Lyndsay Sands, the Blood Ties series by Jennifer Armintrout, some of the Christine Feehan books, and those books about some dude named Edward.Got anything new to recommend?  H calls them sex vampire books, but I like this genre and am kind of in a rut.

Re: Vamps

  • Kim Harrison (heavy on magic, some vamps) and Patricia Briggs (heavy on werewolves, some vamps) are both excellent.Have you read the Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris? I really enjoyed them. And Mod has some super trashy series she's into right now by J.R. Ward, but I haven't read it yet. But it's heavy on the vamp sex, apparently. Also,  Sunshine by Robin McKinley. There's not much sex but it's awesome.

  • The Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward. I haven't read but plan to: The Dead Witch Walking series by Kim Harrison Patricia Briggs The Southern Vamp series by Charlaine Harris

  • I have read the Charlaine Harris series, forgot about that one.  I will check out the J.R. Ward - I like trashy, but I also enjoy a good story.  The biggest thing I like to find is a series that is current and for which the author is still writing new books.
  • I heard a rumor that Ann Rice wrote a book or two about vampires.

  • Ward has a pretty good plot going.  If you like Adrian, you'll like Ward.  They're very similar, but I find the Ward storyline more interesting.

  • That's the one thing I didn't enjoy about Adrian.  I felt like after the third book, some of the formula was the same.  On the other hand, that's why I like the Anita Blake books - each new one gets crazier and more interesting.
  • Hmmm, see, I've found the last several Blakes all porn, no plot.

  • Fallin - Have you read Skin Trade yet?  If I remember, I think I was actually a little disappointed because there was not a lot of sex in that one.  I do like the earlier books in the series for the plot and character development though.
  • One of my co-workers gave me 2 books, one by Ward and I forget what the other one was. They're just sitting around here someplace but I think I'll give them a try.

  • Anne Rice bores the crap out of me.  Interview with a Vampire may be the only movie that was better than the book that I can think off.

  • Rajah Tell me of these please. I know nothing of them. the Argeneau series by Lyndsay Sands, the Blood Ties series by Jennifer Armintrout, some of the Christine Feehan books

  • Caliope, i have in fact, i reluctantly saw the movie and then decided to read the book, still reluctantly, but having Rob Pattinson in my head as Edward encouraged me to read on haha...and i know some people are sure to disagree, but i ended up really liking the series lol
  • How many books are in the series so far?

  • Oh and Irish, if you are serious, I see used K1s for around $175 and used K2s around $220 sometimes.

  • Cali, I think Fulton might be part Ridgeback as well as lab and border collie. She's got a bunch of longer hair right over her spine and a paintbrush tail.

  • Awww, my friend had a Rhodesian Ridgeback and he was the sweetest bestest dog in the whole world.  His name was Emmett and he liked to chew on rocks and bark at the window if you told him, "Lookit the birdies, Emmett!"

  • Bob-why didnt u like AR sleeping beauty?
  • ah if you buy a lot of books and have storage issues, yes Kindle would be good even if no train commute. puppies are bad because they pee on the carpet, they bark incessantly once they discover they can, they chew rawhides really loudly at 2am in their crates, they bite through your husband's eyelid while playing the game of nom, and they chase everything.

  • A bitten eyelid sounds painful. But games of nom and chasing things have lots of cute potential. I definitely could do without the pee on the carpet and the excessive barking though. If anyone knew how big my house is they'd probably laugh at my storage space concern but our office bookcase is full, I keep most of my teaching stuff in boxes in the spare room, and any room we have for shelves downstairs is used for the H's ridiculous DVD collection.I think now that I'm finally settled in my house and found a job closer to home the reality is sinking in that most of my friends are at least 2 hours away and every other week I'll only see my H for an hour a day. Which is better than only seeing him on weekends but still is making me look for things to fill in the free time.

  • I liked Sleeping Beauty 4563.51% more than Interview, but it is garbage.

  • Have you read any Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon?  Not completely vamp stories but they follow the same paranormal lines of most of the other novels listed.   If you liked Black Dagger Brotherhood series you will probably like these.  Try to read in order as all the stories get involved.
