Question about marriage license

We live in Clay County, and when we went to go apply for our marriage license today the lady asked how many years of education we had. I am just wondering if anybody knows why she would ask that. Have you ladies been asked that when you were applying for your marriage license?

We are going next week to apply, we live in Cass County though. If she asks us I will ask her why that's a question, because I have no idea. :-)

It might just be a demographic question. I've worked for non-profits that ask those types of questions all the time and it seems to be that they like to know what the percentages are. Although I'm not sure why the government really cares because it's not like they're going to change the way they do things to get more of a certain demographic group interested, LOL.
