'No gifts' does not equal cash!

Our neice was recently married, she did not have a regristry and requested 'no gifts'. Now that the wedding is over we learn she and her family are mad that all the "happy couple" recieved was token gifts such as bottles of wine, etc.
Apparently the couple wanted $$$$- but not gifts. (I almost burst out laughing).
When I am invited to an event and I am told no gifts, I understand that to be NO GIFTS.
When I host an event and I say no gifts that is what I mean, I want my loved ones to attend and I do not expect a gift!

Honestly I do not feel bad for them, Greed is NOT good!

Yeah that's their fault for requesting "no gifts". If you want cash, don't register, but don't tell people no gifts.

If she said no gifts, she got what she asked for. If they really wanted money they should have said they didn't have a registry but were saving up for X, Y and Z. They have no reason to be mad now.

haha! we know someone who put a cute little poem in her invite asking for cash instead of gifts (b/c a poem requesting money makes it ok, right?! lol) anyway, bride was PISSED after wedding b/c she didn't get as much money as she expected - if people are like me they gave less cash than they normally would b/c of the ASK in the invite, and with a poem at that.
