OMG - my head is going to blow up (honeymoon related)

Ok...I'll try to make this short and sweet.  We booked our honeymoon through Expedia.  Original departure flight was:Flint (leaving at 6:55am) to Cleveland, OH (arriving at 8:05am)Cleveland (leaving at 8:30am) to Cancun (arriving at 11:15am)Well, the flight from Flint to Cleveland was changed to 10:00am so we'd (obviously) miss our 8:30am flight from Cleveland to Cancun.  Continental's solution was to fly us from Flint to Houston to Cleveland to Cancun (arriving at 7:05pm instead of 11:15am).  Ummmm...WHAT?!  Expedia called to inform me of this and to get my approval.  Not gonna happen.  I then asked "What if we fly out of Detroit instead?"  The Expedia lady (who spoke very little English BTW) then put me on hold to call Continental.  Why I couldn't call them directly, I have no clue.  She came back and said we could fly out of Detroit.  I asked if we'd return to Detroit or if we could still return to Flint.  She put me on hold to call Continental back.  Ugh.  After 20 minutes of waiting, I saw on the Expedia website that customers should call the airlines direct with flight changes, etc.  So I decided to call Continental myself without someone acting as a middle (wo)man.  I found out we could leave Detroit at 8:25am, connect in Houston, and arrive in Cancun at 2:05pm.  Our return flight would stay the same (thank God).  I had them change our flight...confirmed it online and through email.  Figured everything was all set.  Guess not.  I then received an email from Expedia freaking out because Continental was cancelling flights.  *sigh*  So I called Expedia back and said they cancelled/changed the flights because I told them to.  When the guy gave me a hard time for calling the airline direct, I told him "That's what your website says to do!"I am so frustrated.  But I think our flights are figured out.  At least I hope so.

yeah that happened to me as well and it had changed quite a few times... luckily it was all worked out smoothly. They had tried to pull some crap on some ridiculous flight plan, and I was like helll no! And they were cool and just changed it to something that worked for me. Hopefully everything will be worked out now. But knowing alot about flying, flights change all the time, so depending on when you are leaving, it may change again!

We leave in November.  I've never had a flight problem like that.  Maybe because Flint airport is tiny and they have recurring flights that rarely change?  Guess I wasn't so lucky this time.  According to Continental, it was changed because of mechanical problems with the plane scheduled for that flight so we got bumped to the next flight (10:00am).

Sometimes I think those airline people like to do things like this for enjoyment. We plan to honeymoon somewhere within the 50 states to avoid as much hassle as possible.Hope it all works out!!

The funny thing about it was that they changed the shortest flight.  Heck, we could drive to Cleveland and be there by 8:30am if we had to. LOL!

Ugh, how frustrating. It sounds like its all set, I assume you'll be getting confirmation emails?!This reminds me of when I called to change a flight and was told there was no flight, scheduled a new one and was billed for two tickets.

How frustrating! But...you're not going on your honeymoon until November. It seems weird that they wouldn't have a plane fixed, or a replacement plane by November. I don't know squat about avaition so I could be way off base but I would think they'd have a backup or something. Oh well, hopefully it's all squared away. I'm sure you got all your confirmations and such in order so they can't come back and try to charge you or anything in the end.

Erica, I will send happy plane vibes your way.  I love Bishop...really I do.  It's small and so easy to fly out of.  And we've never had any problems with them...but we've always flown Delta.  Maybe that was my mistake (choosing Continental).  LOL!When do you leave for your honeymoon? :)

we leave the day after christmas - taking advantage of my teacher's holiday :) we like bishop, too - except for the time DH got stranded there for 10 hours! it was airtran's fault more than anything, but can you imagine not having any food there other than their snack stands. he said he got sick of microwave pizza really fast. other than that, it's such a nice airport to fly out of!

Same thing happened for us to Dublin. We were originally supposed to be DTW - JFK - DUB, but then one day as I was browsing our seat selections, noticed that we now had DTW - CVG - JFK - DUB. Both ways! Thanks for the notification. We now leave like, 5 hrs earlier and have two layovers. Yuck!
