  • hahaI can't spell forshit either
  • It's a TV show. It's terrible. They take brides that are like a size 8 who brought dresses that are too small. Then they crash diet and exercise. It's really obnoxious because the girls aren't big in the first place.

  • It's really obnoxious because the girls aren't big in the first place.right...because only overweight brides want to look tones and fit on their wedding days. If you are a size 8, you should just accept it. Give me a break. Every bride wants to look her best no matter what size she is when she starts her workout program. I don't see how this would make it obnoxious. I'd rather work out like crazy and diet than hate how I look in my dress.

  • What?!?!?!  Size EIGHT is now considered "bulging"??This is beyond ridiculous.  The brides should have bought a dress in their (very acceptable and normal) regular size in the first place!
  • Doesn't sound like they're starting an exercise program though, sounds like they're going about in an unhealthy way. And I agree with noonies, no way is a size 8 bulging. If she's a size 8 in a wedding dress, she's probably even smaller in regular clothes, since to seems wedding dresses run small.

  • I wear a size 4 or 6 and I consider parts of my body bulging in certain clothing...so can someone who is a size 8. Just because you are smaller than average, it doesn't mean you don't have trouble spots. I am not sure what the workouts are because I haven't see the show...but I am assuming it is boot-camp style with a trainer and nutritionist. and, I think they are referring to her street size, not her wedding gown size, when they say she is an 8.

  • Of course we all have trouble spots, and I didn't mean to imply that. I suppose by bulging I see the blimpie tire man, ha. And by unhealthy, I was referring to the crash dieting. And agk said 8, but they were putting them in too small wedding dresses, so I assume their wedding dress is a size 8. But I'm not in front of a TV, so all of my assumptions could be completely wrong :)

  • dont worry whit, this has nothing to do with you...I am just venting my general frustrations about attitudes that many of the women here have about weight.  It is just frustrating to be told that you can't possibly have any issues because you are considered thin. Hello! we are all women- we all have body issues! I know size 16 women who are more confident about their bodies than i am!

  • Brit, of course ladies want to look toned in their dresses no matter what their size and we all have what we consider problem areas, but most of us are smart enough to buy a dress that fits up in the first place. These girls literally can't zip their dresses. And yes, it's a trainer and a nutritionist. The last girl lost 15 or so pounds in 6 weeks.

  • veronabrit, I realize that.  I'm not saying that small women don't have trouble spots.  What I'm saying is that the NAME of the show invites people to think, "Gee, it must be about fat girls who need to lose weight."No, it's about unrealistic brides who chose dresses that weren't good for their body types.  If someone has some trouble spots, that's fine, work on them as much as you like.  There's just no need for 122-pound women to call in "The Dream Team" because they -- gasp -- don't fit into their teeny tiny dress! The show is unneccessary.  They don't make shows about women who work so hard to lose lots of weight and all of a sudden are too small for their dresses, do they?  It costs plenty of money to have a wedding dress altered at the last minute both ways.Give me a break, verona.  No one is saying that smaller women aren't allowed to voice concerns about their bodies.  This show just invites an unhealthy lifestyle.
  • That show sounds redic. Even if you loose the weight, you'll still need alterations. At that point, does it matter if it an inch in or an inch out?
  • The diet and the exercise were very strict and hard. I can't imagine her keeping it up in the long run. There weren't any rewards in the diet which would make her want to break it.And for the record I'm what most consider "tiny" and still have body issues, mostly because I'm not toned. So you're preaching to the choir, Brit. I just think a show title such as this implies ladies with bigger problems and that's really not the case..THAT'S what makes it annoying.

This show just invites an unhealthy lifestyle.Maybe you don't but many on this board think exactly what you posted...I don't see what is unhealthy about it? I am just NOT getting how working out with a trainer and nutritionist for 6 weeks is unhealthy or crash dieting. To me, crash dieting is eating hardly anything at all and working out like crazy. it seems like these workouts and supervised and tailored to each woman.I don't think the title bulging brides leads us to believe they are truly overweight, but that they are bulging out of their dresses because they bought them too small. The title is appropriate for the circumstance these brides have gotten themselves into.

  • doesn't sound unhealthy to me- and, if she keeps it off, her health will be better off for it. Anything over 2 pounds or 10% of your body weight of a loss per week is considered by most doctors and weight specialists to be unhealthy. So unless the girl was 250 pounds, it wasn't a healthy weight loss. And 15 pounds off of a person who's already within their ideal body weight does not mean they are suddenly more healthy. I know women who are considered overweight that are more healthy than women that are within their ideal body weight.

  • Nugget - your numbers are definitely right on with regards to how fast it is safe to lose weight, but 15 in 6 weeks is safely possible with a tight but healthy diet and a decent amount of exercise. For example, I've done WW on and off for years. The first week on is always a significant drop for me - 4 to 5 pounds - water weight, of course, and those dream results are so not repeated ever again, much to my dismay. But I do lose anywhere from half a pound to two pounds per week - varies by the week, I guess. So if the bride had dropped some water weight the first week, say 4 to 5 pounds, then 2 pounds a week for the next 5 weeks would bring her right in around 15 total. Now, if I could hit that two pounds a week on the nose every week, I'd be thrilled, but I don't have the commitment to exercise that it would require.

  • And by "I don't have the commitment to exercise," I mean I rode my bike for 20 minutes, once, the first week of the diet.

  • Then it was not a healthy weight loss. Losing more than that occationally isn't bad, but consistently losing more than that over a longer period of time is not healthy. In fact, they've done research that people who lose like that don't keep it off in the future.

  • Nugget - I've got to agree with you again. They're putting these brides on strict diets and intense workout programs and whether or not it is a healthy loss doesn't end up mattering - the restrictions and routines are not realistic life changes, and yo-yo'ing your weight up and down is extremely unhealthy as well.I'll take my slow and steady that comes along with education on making healthy choices over a quick, dramatic, unsustainable loss any day.

  • TJ - she should have been losing about 1.4 pounds a week. It's 2 pounds or 10%, whichever is less. There are obviously some people who can lose a lot of weight and keep it off. But the other thing that bothers me, is that this show doesn't sound like it does anything to teach these women proper eating habits, proper exercise (boot camp is great, but its not really something you can do on your own). Do they teach about calories, BMI, target heart rate zones, all that kind of stuff to be healthy? Because being skinny does not equal being healthy. It sounds like they're just trying to get these women skinny. And when the personal trainer and nutrionist leave, without tools in place for the woman to change what is apparently instilled habits that aren't working for her, she's going to revert back to the "heavy weight" or whatever within a year.

  • Nugget - That's the same feeling I have with diet programs that call for carb restriction or plans where you eat the company's food exclusively. Sure, weight is going to drop off, but when you reach your goal, are you going to keep having food shipped to you indefinitely? If not, when, during all the microwaving, did you learn to make appropriate choices to maintain your losses? Too many people are interested in the fast, easy way without thinking about how they're going to live the rest of their lives.
