WR yays and nays

Kind of AW-ish, but I also want to hear your yays and nays too! Yay - We are using bella pictures for our wedding, and we got our photog assignment and I am in love - http://www.matthew-photo.com/ Nay - I finished my invites, and they are going to cost 81 cents to mail, but I was too lazy to sit with the woman and figure out how to get 81 cents out of their various stamps, so I am just putting two 44 cent wedding stamps on those bad boys.

Re: WR yays and nays

  • Yay - we found really cheap DIY invites.  In the end it will probably have cost us just over $100 for all of our invites (approx 60)!  Yay! Nay - we have two months to make said invites and neither of us is really motivated to do it.  Boo!
  • TiDa, I feel you - I just finished mine last night and I am so relieved it is over. I enjoyed it, but it was a lot of work!
  • Yay-- I finished my book last nightNay--I'm trapped at fi's house and have no books to read :-(

  • I have not heard of this Bella Pictures-just looked it up. Did you get to browse all of the photographers to get an idea of what you want? Is there a discount involved, or is it just easier than hunting on your own... Thanks!
  • Yay--we are getting married in Vegas, and I don't have to deal with a thing (technically speaking). Nay--The boutique I bought my dress from acts like I'm an idiot whenever I call. I just called today to ask about a swatch of fabric I requested 3 months ago, and they claimed they have no file of my order. Not even my dress. Really? They cashed my check but can't find my order forms? That was nice of them.

  • Yay- I am picking up my dress this weekend!Nay- I don't have anything... other than I don't want to wait 7 more months until our wedding.

  • oxerny, basically how they work is you book with them, then you "rate" various photos on how you like the style, and they match you with a photographer. You don't get to request/view specific photographers portfolios before you book. There's no discount, their rates are relatively competitive and they offer a variety of packages. Some people have had mixed opinions of them, but so far my experience has been fine.
  • oh this is wedding related...duh.  silly shelly.yay-- I had a meeting with the lighting guy yesterday, and I'm excited.nay- I have a bag sitting next to me with invites I should be addressing, but  I'm not.

  • Yay - I got a call from a school district this morning Nay - They called to tell me I didn't get the job, they went with someone with 3 years exp.
  • Yay - I actually started putting out DIY invites together last night, I go for my first fitting on Friday, and someone bought something off our registry Nay - I effed up so many of the invites that I barely have what I need to send out.  Thank God we ordered extras.  And, really, the invites still aren't done so I should hold back my excitement on that score.
  • Yay - I'm going on vacation next weekend, shortly followed by a 2 week trip out to my parents' place in PA to pick ceremony and reception venues, which will be the first wedding related thing I will accomplish.Nay - The brides on my club board (Oct 2010) make me feel inadequate and behind, with all their checks and accomplishments and completely filled out bios, while I'm still stalled at "I LIKE RED!"

  • TiDa - once everything was printed, FI and I were able to put the base part together (invite secured to mat, mat secured into pocketfold) in a few hours one night, then I stuffed all the inserts (with numbered RSVP cards), belly banded, and enveloped them all another night. I did just over 60 total. The printing is what took the longest, honestly. That and stamping/creating the belly bands because for some reason the gold ink I have hates to dry. The only advise I have is if you have to get stuff cut, have someone do it, don't do it yourself. It's very hard to get square/even cuts with a paper cutter, and I got all my panels and inserts done for $10 - totally worth it. What kind of invite are you doing?
  • TJ - never let anyone make you feel inadequate.
  • I'm gonna slide a confession in here: I'm totally not doing bands or anything fancy on my pocketfolds.  I'm just slapping a sticker on that baby.
  • Ladies, non-WR yays and nays are more than welcome :) YAY it up!! NAY it dowwwnnn. Or something.
  • Interesting...thanks!
  • Thanks kdc.  Ours won't be as hard as yours as there's no glueing or antyhing like that.  Their just 5.5" x 8" card invites.  Essentially all we have to do is print them and our direction/accomadation cards out and stuff in the envelope.  We may dress them up a little with snowflakes somehow (I know, I know, snowflakes are soooo typical of winter weddings), but we're not sure how or if we'll bother.  All in all, they aren't very fancy.  Just white with a silver border.  I guess it should be pretty easy for us (hopefully).  If only we could decide on the wording.....
  • Julez, confessions are unacceptable, please refer to subject line ;) And I don't think that need a confession - stickers are cute too. Yay stickers!
  • Yay - the inlaws are here and the wedding is in 3 DAYS!Nay - i still need to write my vows for the ceremony.

  • Yay I got to go home from work 3 hours early today to burn sick timeNay I have to take a conference call from home now...but at least I can do it in front of theknot and in my pj'sBella photos are still calling me and hanging up without leaving messages. They have been doing this since last August when I requested an estimate. How do I block numbers/do not call list my cell? That sucks Sarah, their loss!
  • Oh that wretched experience!  That's the excuse I get.  I wish they'd just tell me they hate me.  That would be so much easier.

  • TiDa, in that case you can probably get them done in a night or two once everything is printed. Just be sure to do a few test prints on regular paper cut down to the size you need - it will save you from wasting invites/nice paper for inserts. Wording was a pain for me too. FI is a copyeditor so every time he looked at it he would question something. I gave him a final proof round and told him that was IT. No more. If you need help when you get started, let me know!
  • Yay - I think I've found my DOC.  She's really affordable and comes highly recommended. Nay - I really wish I could afford for her to plan the whole thing and me just show up. But, I can't. Boo
  • Aw, julez, I was just kidding! Come out and play with your cute pink stickers. Please? Katie - I don't think being on a do-not-call list helps since you contacted them. But you can probably call and ask them to remove you from the list. Is it from the national group or from your local salesperson? I would have been more help last year - the reason we booked with them was my FSIL was a consultant, but she no longer works there.
  • Yay - my wedding is in 5 weeksBoo - my wedding is in 5 weeks.

  • Not sure on national/localugh..boss just showed up to the call 20 minutes late.
  • Yay: We've been married for 6+ weeks!Nay: We only have half the TY notes out because DH is slacking on his side but doesn't want me to do them.  I'm going to give him one more week, and then I'm finishing them!
  • Yay - my DIY pocketfolds are almost done. They just need to be stuffed and addressed.Boo - I still have to stuff and address my invites so they can go in the mail by Saturday morning. And I don't plan to be home tomorrow or Friday nights.
