Ushers - Tuxes??

We're planning on having separate ushers (not the groomsmen).  Do we need to ask them to get tuxes, or can we just ask that they wear a suit?  We will get them boutonnieres.  It seems silly to ask them to spend the money on a tux. Thanks!

Re: Ushers - Tuxes??

  • Our ushers wore tuxes, mainly because that was always how DH and I had seen it done at other weddings.
  • Our ushers wore suits that they already owned. I think one was black and the other was charcoal. I bought them ties to match the GM's vests. I just couldn't justify asking them to spend that much money on a tux just to walk my grandma up the aisle and smile.
  • I dont think they need to rent tuxes, unless YOU have strong feelings about how they look.
  • I'm sure they will be happy that your not requiring them not to wear tuxes.  You can have them wear suits too.  We are just having them wear black pants and a white button down shirt and we bought them the tie.  They will get a bout too.

  • Our Ushers wore suits and I bought each of them a tie that matched the BM dresses.  Pics in bio.
