Ushers - Tuxes??

We're planning on having separate ushers (not the groomsmen).  Do we need to ask them to get tuxes, or can we just ask that they wear a suit?  We will get them boutonnieres.  It seems silly to ask them to spend the money on a tux.Thanks!

    Our ushers wore tuxes, mainly because that was always how DH and I had seen it done at other weddings.

    Our ushers wore suits that they already owned. I think one was black and the other was charcoal. I bought them ties to match the GM's vests. I just couldn't justify asking them to spend that much money on a tux just to walk my grandma up the aisle and smile.

    I dont think they need to rent tuxes, unless YOU have strong feelings about how they look.

    I'm sure they will be happy that your not requiring them not to wear tuxes.  You can have them wear suits too.  We are just having them wear black pants and a white button down shirt and we bought them the tie.  They will get a bout too.
