Rec Your Shampoo and Conditioner

So, I'm broke and cannot afford to buy shampoo and conditioner at $16 each. I very rarely use the stuff you find in the drug stores, but my wallet is bare. I need something that is good for color treated hair, more specifically for dark red. Rec your stuff!

John Frieda "Red," it's the stuff for various hair colors. My hair isn't colored but has natural red undertones. I've been using it for three days now. The conditioner leaves my hair AMAZINGLY soft (like i just got it dyed!), and the shampoo/conditioner help to make my hair even more red than it normally is.They are about 6 dollars a piece at meijer and 5/piece at walmart (although my walmart didn't have the red shampoo).

I've heard colored red hair fades the quickest. I got some dark auburn underneath my hair (back of the neck) and it's been only 2 weeks and it's already faded to more of a Lindsay Lohan red which I wanted anyway. I use Pantene Pro-V Restoratives, Time Renewal and I love it. That's not what you are looking for though! There are some special color shampoos to maintain reds though!

I really love Dove shampoo....it's cheap and I think it works as good or better than fancy products...I also fell in love with Organix Coconut products, but the shampoo is too expensive for me...I just use the serum on my ends.

Anything sulfate free will help your color last longer and be sure to not buy anything that is a deep cleansing shampoo - they strip your hair like you cant imagine.

TJ Maxx and Marshalls usually have great finds if you pick them up from the clearance section.

I second Dove products!  I've been using their moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and LOVE them.  My stylist actually recommended them to me because I didn't want to buy the expensive stuff.

Rachel-Stop using Pantene!!! It it the worst for your hair it leaves wax on your hair, yes wax!Soon you will wonder why you need to wash your hair everyday because it is a greasy mess.Use it on your cat!lolSulfate free is great!Dove has a lot of alcohol in it so that will strip your color right out.And dry your hair out.If you are going to have red hair, and want to keep it looking fresh you are gonna have to break down and buy the good stuff.Really, people think it is so expensive to buy salon products but really if you use them properly it will last you longer than any huge bottle of the drug store stuff.I never understand why people spend between $100-$200 on their color and then go out and rinse it down the sink with crappy shampoo. Also the most color comes out of your hair within the 1st 72 hours after having your hair colored.Don't wash your hair for the 1st 72 hours.(Advice more for color, not highlights)I use Phytojoba,I am a junkie,it is expensive even for me to buy $28,but it is the best.I can go at least 3 days without washing my hair,(even with working out)if the PH on your scalp is healthy you shouldn't have to wash your hair everyday. I have highlights. For color treated hair I would rec. Kuene after color shampoo,it is the only shampoo that has the ingredient that keeps color in your clothes,in the shampoo. You maybe able to find it online for cheaper.Since when are you a red head?I cant wait to see it! :)All in all, do what you do.I'm just trying to help.
