Tipping Vendors - suggestions appreciated

Can someone help? We are wondering if it is "required" to tip our DJ and Photographer at our wedding?

Tipping is a gratuity, and as such, isn't "required."  It should be based on level of service.  The general rule of thumb to determine whether or not it is "expected" is based on whether or not your vendor owns their own buisness or is an employee of a buisness.  Generally, if the vendor owns their own buisness, you do not need to tip, as all of the profit is going to them.  If the vendor is an employee in a larger company, then you would tip the individual

Ditto Tide...  we had a band but I didn't tip them, they charged plenty.  I tipped our Photog $100 even though he owned his company b/c he was that great!  If is something you can decide after the day of too.  I mailed my tip to the photog after I got my pictures.

Ditto PPs. I tipped vendors (like the hair person in the salon and the DJ) who did not own their own business. I did not tip the vendors who did own their own business since they keep all that they earn. I did tip the venue's bartenders, etc.
