Fake Cake

I am trying to find a way to save some money, and I saw somewhere you could use a fake cake where just the piece you cut is real. Does anyone know a bakery that will do this in the Baltimore area? Thanks!

Most of the cost of a wedding cake comes from the actual time spent decorating it.  Generally speaking, "fake cakes" dont' save a lot of money, since the baker has to decorate them the same as they would a real cake.  You can do a small cake and then have sheet cake in the back to cut.  Just check out bakeries and see what options they give you. If you are looking for a baker, try Margie at www.artisitccakecreations.com Her prices start at about $1.50 a person and the cakes are awesome.  She's based out of WV, but delivers to MD for a nominal fee.  Start your search there :)

I have looked into the ones you can cut into and they are very expensive. We are having an ice cream cake that is 3 tiers, we will also have a fake cake to be on display that they will switch out with the real one, so we won't actually cut into the fake cake. If that sounds like something you may be interested in let me know and I can give you more info.
