Engagement party gifts question

Hi everyone!We are having an engagement party this weekend. I know most of our guests will not be brings gifts but I know a few will. What is the gift opening protocol? I am assuming we just open them afterward at home but I don't want to insult anyone by not opening them at the party if that is what usually happens.Thanks,Lisa

    Don't open gifts at the event.  Since only a few people will bring gifts, they'll understand that you won't want to open them in front of everyone.  Just be sure to send a prompt thank you card after the fact.FWIW, most of our e-party gifts were things like wine or a gift basket, so it wasn't anything we had to unwrap.

    Thank the giver as they give them then put them off to the side or in a seperate room. Enjoy party Next day or after party open gifts then write thank you note in appreciation
