Hair salons? Curly hair?

Hi there ladies -- I'm debating whether or not to have my hair professionally done for the wedding... I have naturally curly hair that can be somewhat difficult (understatement!) to work with, and I am not really interested in having it blown straight and tortured into a complicated updo. They're lovely, but it just isn't me... I want my fiance to recognize me on our wedding day! :)That said, I'm not at all sure I'd be comfortable doing it myself... I don't do much with my hair on a regular basis. Also, I'd like to give my posse the option of getting their hair done if they're interested. I'm not really interested in hiring someone to come to me, it seems to be more expensive that way.Any salon recommendations? Know any stylists who specialize in curly hair? Naturallycurly.com wasn't much of a help, sadly.

Oops... meant to say that I live in Silver Spring but we're getting married up near Baltimore, at Overhills Mansion in Catonsville.

I go to a salon in Pikesville (not too far from Catonsville) and am using my usual stylist for my wedding. She works with all hair types and I myself have naturally curly hair. I'll be driving to her the morning of rather than have someone travel to me. I can give you her info if interested.

I am having Mindy Whalen come to my house and do hair. Honestly, I've had my hair done in salons before when I was a BM and she does not charge any more than they did. Not sure how she is with curly, but she is very talented, she did wonders with my thin, flat hair!

Vanessa -- I'd love that info... thanks!Thinking about the logistics of everything, it might be easier to find a salon in Silver Spring, since I won't be staying up in Catonsville the night before the wedding. I just looked at a salon website and they have ridiculous overcharges for a "bridal" updo ($100+) vs a regular old updo ($65). Grrrrrrr. Maybe I'll tell them I'm going to a 50th anniversary party.

I never even thought to look into someone else doing my hair, just because she's been doing my hair for YEARS! So it was natural to ask her to do it for me. She works at Zibazz #410.356.2234, her name is Bria. You could probably even call and ask to speak to her. I don't know if she travels to people so it might be worth it to ask. You never know. GL with your search!

My FI has naturally curly hair and she does not want to really do anything with it. I have pics in my bio of hair style choices that are simple yet elegant.

sorry this is way late. i'm not sure if you'd want to spend the money because it's much more expensive than what you posted you were suprised about (i think it was $175 including the trial), but i had mindy from up do's for i do. i'm going to try to post a pic in the post so you can see what she did. you can see from at least my siggy that my hair is extremely curly. everyone made comments that they loved my hair and loved that i kept it natural because i looked like me. just google up do's for i do...
