Alterations

I know this has been asked before but I forgot to write anything down. I'm planning on taking my dress in next week to get a quote on alterations but I'm not sure where to go! Do any of you ladies have recommendations? I'm only going to need a hem and bustle, and my dress has an organza overlay with some beading, if that affects anyone's recs. TIA!

I am using Diana Ackerman of The Threadbender for my dress alterations. She charges $50 an hour but she must be fast because she literally remade the entire top piece of my dress, took in the waist and hips to fit perfectly, and removed the internal boning! And my dress required a lot of taking apart and cutting and sewing back together because it has heavy beading and a lace overlay that had to be taken off and put back on and she's spent 3 hours so far $150. This last time I had a fitting, she showed me what the bustle will look like and it's going to be AMAZING! She may not be the cheapest but her attention to detail is worth it in my opinion. She has really gone above and beyond my expectations and (obviously) I can't say enough good things about her.

I'm using Five Star Wedding Dress specialist and have been really happy with them so far.  It's not cheap, though. I had a hem, the straps adjusted, and bra cups put in and it was about $175.  I believe bustles start at $50 depending on how extravagent it is.

I second Five Star Wedding Gown Specialists on Huebner Rd. between Babcock and Fredericksburg. They do a great job and it is $50 per bustle...apparently some dresses need more than one bustle. I never knew that, but anyway they are great!

I really like Joan's Alternations on Dezavala. I take all my stuff there and they did my alterations for my TTD pics. It's over by the post office behind the Wal-Mart.

Thanks ladies! I'll check out those places and see which one can give me the best price. I'm assuming I should make appointments with them rather than just walking in, right? Thanks!
