Texas marriage license

Hi ladies, I'm getting married in Houston ( I live in Boston MA) and I want to know what exactly I need to do to get a marriage license. I read a few websites and there's a 72 hr period, between the time we get the license to when we get married. What will be the  best website to get information on what to do.? there are so many. I'll be only a few days in Houston. Thank you!!!

You can get it up to 30 days before your ceremony but no sooner than 72 hours, except for military reason I think, fees will vary by county and you only need a valid ID. If you took a marital class (at least an 8 hour class) the fees are either waived, or discounted, you have to provide proof.I do not know if there is a specific site, I just googled Montgomery or Harris county marriage license and the info came up

If your military personal the 72 hours is waved. I know some premarital classes wave the fee as well and the 72 hours.

You may also want to look into Texas program.  Twogether in Texas is an 8 hr marriage prep seminar and you get $60 off your marriage license fees.

Thanks for the anwers! I have called the City Clerk and I was guven th eround around , called 6 numbers total, seemed like nobody knew how to answer my question. I explained that my FI won't be there 72 hrs prior to the wedding (b/c we live in boston) the answer I got is to go to the downtown office and "see if I can get it waived" It is not a military reason so don't know if that will be waived.I may end up going to the city hall here in boston to obatin a legal marriage license.
