Turning Stone Casino receptions

Hi! I was wondering if anyone has or is having their reception at Turning Stone. We are thinking of using this venue but are afraid things like flowers and cake from them is going to be really expensive. Let me know your reviews. Thanks!!

I am having my reception at Turning Stone in 3 weeks. The only thing that you have to get from them is the food. We got our flowers, cake, dj, etc from outside vendors. They encourage you to use their people, but it's not required. The food/alcohol is pretty expensive but worth it!!

I just booked the Shenendoah Clubhouse at Turning Stone for our wedding next summer.  The place is gorgeous and I am so excited to get this planning started!! I would love to know if anyone has input on vendors!!! Alan gave me a list, but he didn't include any other cake vendors.  Also did you get the chair covers?  I was thinking about finding a place to rent chivari chairs close to the price of the chair covers ($5 each).  We are planning to get married outside there.  It should be great.  Any feedback is appreciated!

Hi Jettie - Congratulations! I am at the Shenendoah next summer as well!  Aside from reserving TS, I haven't done much to date.  Next on the list is a DJ and a photographer.  I am planning from out of state which complicates things a little. We are also getting married outside I beleive (are you doing the lawn at the Lodge or the golf course area?)  Did Alan give you a price quote for each?  I forgot to get this information.  Are you having music at the ceremony?  If so, what are your plans for this?

Hi Leah! Congrats! I haven't done anything besides book TS too! I have been researching various vendors and asking friends.  I actually have a friend who is a photographer, so I am going to meet with her in a week or so and she is going to tell me which vendors are good and which to stay away from! I will fill you in! We are going to get married on the course.  Alan was just throwing out prices so i can't remember exactly what he said.  I will let you know if I find out.I have heard only great things from friends who have attended receptions there! It is a great place!

Oh and I forgot to write that I am planning on having a string quartet or something of that nature for the ceremony and then a DJ for the reception.  I have heard good things about Black Tie DJ and they are affordable.  Like I said I will let you know what my photographer friend Megan Thomas says about the DJs, etc! :)

Ahh, I keep trying to post a lengthy reply and my computer keeps messing with me!Long story short, I'd love it if you could send me your recs.  I was going to make appointments with Black tie and Kevin Colangelo.  Does your friend regularly book weddings as a photog?  I'll have to check out her website! My sister went to a wedding at the clubhouse last summer and she absolutely lvoed it.  Said everything was beautiful adn teh food was great.  Everytime I've eaten there, it has been great.Oh, did you hear that TS will be serving alcohol now at their restaurants, bars and lounges?  I have mixed thoughts on this.  I liked to go out to eat there and brng my own nice bottle of wine without the markup :)

My friend does regularly book weddings. Search her, she has a website (Meghan Thomas Photography). :)  I will get you her suggestions as soon as I meet with her.  I have known her for years and I would trust her 100% with input. She is so sweet, she told me she was even going to recommend other photographers in case i didn't want to go with her!

And I heard they were going to charge you a one time $25 to be able to buy alcohol. I believe they said you can still bring alcohol, but with a corkage fee. Not too thrilled.

Jettie - I just checked out Meghan's website and all I can say is "wow".  Beautiful work.  Love her website!  I would love to meet with her at some point.  I live in NJ now so its just a little more difficult to get everthing done.  I really need to get motivated.  I am next July - getting married on a Sunday at Shenedoah.

  • Do You guys know how much Turning stone costs?
  • I'm getting married at Turning Stone in October 2014. They have a lot of pricing and package information on their website. So far I've been very impressed with their service and how inclusive their venue is. Happy planning!
  • I'm getting married at Turning Stone in July 2015 & I agree! It's one stop shopping & I have to say, most of the prices aren't inflated much at all. You will pay a pretty penny for the food/drink/venue, but, I think it's worth it, because you are getting excellent service!
