Ceremony/Reception Sites!

I need your help!  I have been researching non-stop for a place to get married (outdoors preferably) and a reception site without draining my mother's bank account!  Does anyone have any ideas for me?  thanks!

If you are looking in DSM try Jester Park

We had our wedding in the rose garden behind the Art Center, and reception outdoors on the terrace at the State Historical Building.  We loved both venues and got lots of compliments on them, and spent less than $1000 rental fees for both combined.  Also, I meant to mention the other day in your Sticks thread that the huge benefit there is that they let yu bring in your own alcohol (or at least they did as of last October).  This can save you a huge chunk of change, and is something that the State Historical Building doesn't allow you to do.

Oh, and, it might be wise to make another screen name if this is your FI's real name...  Internet safety and all.

We are getting married next September at the Simpson Barn in Johnston. It has a nice outdoor area, in addition to the barn. You can have whoever you want for catering, and bring in your own alcohol too. Which is great, and alot of places you can't do. They charge you by the actual hours you're using it, right now its $45 an hour...so its not bad.

We used Toad Valley Golf Course in Pleasant Hill. We had our ceremony outside on the course, and reception in thier club house. They were great to work with. They have a $1200 rental fee, but if you cater with them, that amount goes into your catering bill... so essentially the rental is free.
