NWR: Vent

So 2.5 years ago I bought H a new motorcycle and when I bought it I bought like $4-5,000 worth of extended warranties and tire protection and tons of other things so basically anything that went wrong would be fixed and we wouldn't have to pay for it.  Well now the company is OUT OF BUSINESS !!!!  No more orlando shops !!  The closest one still open is Clearwater so I called and asked what they are doing for customers that no longer have a place to take their bike since both orlando locations closed and the biitch said "you can bring it to our clearwater shop now".  I was like ARE YOU KIDDING ME... I am not taking the bike somewhere 2 hours away just to have an oil change or whatever done to it.  Here is the BIG problem...  the bike broke down yesterday on H's way to work so we had to have it towed yesterday to a random place and have to pay for it to just be looked at and then whatever it costs to fix it when usually it would all be covered with all the warranties I bought !!  UGHHHHHH... I am on the verge of tears !!!  I left a message for someone in corporate and they better do something about it because they are out of their mind if they think we are going to start driving the bike to clearwater for maintenance or whenever something happens to it !  I really just don't know what to even do :-(

**Sending positive vibes your way**This really sucks, and Clearwater isn't close! I'm really hoping that the person in Corporate will let you know of some place that is local that you can check out and bring H's bike into!

oh that sucks.  Read the information and see if there is anything in there about getting money back, changing locations, etc.  Also, if corporate doesn't do anything, report it to the BBB.  Be sure to keep track of dates and names because the BBB asks for that on their form. GL and I hope everything works out!

I have never reported anything to the BBB so thanks for that heads up... started my list of people I have contacted right now.  H was searching for the paperwork this morning but couldn't find it so hopefully we can find that tonight.  It is just so frustrating... here I thought I going to be saving us money in the long run buying all these extra warranties because the reason I bought him a new bike in the first place was because the one he had was a money pit from being in the shop all the time and now if they don't do anything about it I am really out alot of money :-(

That does suck.  I tend to be leery of warranties only because in my experience there has always been some sort of loophole to get out of it.  For instance, the touch screen on H's pad stopeed working recently so he took it in to an AT&T store since it should still be under the 1 year warranty.  They told him that it was water logged so the warranty was void.  He tells them, how could that be - hasn't be in water/rain/etc.  They said sweat and humidity could do it.  Seriously, sweat and humidty in fl and your warranty is void.  he ended up paying $100 out of pocket for a crap phone just so he had one to use.  BS if you ask me.

Jess - So sorry to hear that.  I'd follow Jackie's advice. Jackie - FYI, depending on your provider, WalMart has phones for around $40 that you can just put your sim card in.

If you can get a hold of Corporate, see if there is a local dealer they will work through for your warranty. I know how your feeling....FI has two bikes and it seems like even though there are plenty of places to take the bike....the warranty doesn't cover anything....and the things it does cover....will most likely never break...It is really frustrating :( Good luck and I'm sending positive vibes your way!!!!

My parents are going through this same type of thing. When they bought their boat, they boat a pricey extended warranty on the engine to cover all maintanance and repairs, and then the boat shop was bought out by another shop that didn't want to honor the warranty, and then that shop went out of business, and the only other shop is in Jax. I think they finally found another shop that would honor the warranty (after much hassle of calling the corporate headquarters). Now they're fighting to get reimbursed for the stuff that they already had to have done someplace else. Keep track of everything, and good luck!
