NWPR: Field trip

http://forums.theknot.com/Sites/theknot/Pages/Main.aspx/wedding-boards_just-engaged-proposals_need-thoughts

I'm calling MUD on this one.  If not, I'm less concerned about the ring and more concerned that her FI sounds like a selfish jerk.

  • I agree with her about deserving a big ring, but that is because I am getting a vibe that her FI is jerk.  She has put up with him and all she wanted was a 1.5 ct ring.

See, I figure that if you want to marry a big jerk, that's kind of your own fault.  And if FI was a jerk, even if he bought me a bigger ring, it wouldn't change the fact of him being a jerk.  Whereas even though FI gave me a gorgeous ring, it could have been smaller of CZ and I still would have wanted to marry him.  It was dark when he proposed, so I wasn't even able to see the ring until after I'd said yes.  Looking at the ring was practically an afterthought! lol

  • I don't think she realizes that he is a big jerk.  She is just frustrated and this is just one more thing to add to a long list of disapointments.

  • I wouldn't turn my nose up at a $6K ring.  Had to wonder about the comments that the ring is the first thing he ever bought her.  He doesn't sound like a generous person at all and I don't mean he needs to get her pricey stuff.  Gifts of thought count as well.
  • yeah, britne, I'm wondering the same thing.  FI and I buy each other little things all the time.

Shortly before we got engaged, FI was talking about a guy at work who proposed to his girlfriend, but she wouldn't say yes until he upgraded her diamond.  And the tool did it.  I thought it was one of the saddest things I'd ever heard.

This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Wow, Aerin.  I think FI would have reconsidered wanting to marry me if I pulled a stunt like that!  (And I wouldn't blame him.)
