bridal salons Charlotte area

Has anyone been to Poffie Girls or Social Butterfly in Gastonia?  Do they charge a consultation fee? Good/bad experiences?

I did go to Poffie Girls and there was no fee charged.  The ladies there are very nice and were helpful.  They carried a dress that I had seen in a magazine and wanted to try on.  I did not end up liking the dress but they had several other suggestions.  They do store their dresses in a stock room and will bring out what you request.  Although, I have heard that if it is a slow day, brides may be allowed back to take a peek for themselves.  I did not end up purchasing from them but they are a nice salon.  Sorry, no help with Social Butterfly.

I went to Poffie Girls.  I thought it was great for my first place to start looking.  Spacious rooms to try on and I got to go to the back room (my appt was in Feb.)  They aren't going to pressure you into trying on anything you don't like...I ended up getting what I didn't think I wanted at another store.   Plus they have mode lighting which gives you a good sense of ceremony lights vs. reception lighting.

If I'm remembering correctly, I had to get a bridesmaid dress from Social Butterfly.  They were helpful but wouldn't budge on my measurements (even if parts of the dress don't require a particular size - ie. flared out dress from the bust means you don't need the hip measurement).  I had to spend almost $60 taking the dress in 6 inches!

Check out NY Bridal (?) on Independence...I didn't get my dress there as I didn't know about them but they are very helpful when we were looking for a MOB dress and there store is gorgeous and spacious.

Thanks for the input ladies.  I'm trying them both today so we'll see how it goes.  I'm more excited about Poffie Girls and I'm really only trying Social Butterfly because they carry Demetrios. I get to wear dresses today!  I love this part!

A friend of mine had her first stop at Poffie Girls but they weren't carrying Essence of Australia yet which is what she was really wanting to see.  She ended up finding her dress somewhere else.

NY Bride was a GREAT experience.  Another friend of mine got her dress there and I got my dress there.  They are not pushy and will assist you as much or as little as you choose.  You don't have to make an appointment and they have a large selection.  I highly recommend it!

I got my dress at Poffie Girls and they have been great, especially the seamstress Jackie.  She is wonderful!
