Please don't put signs all around letting your guests know you donated to a charity on their behalf. Unless you are making a donation in every guests' name, then you are not donating on their behalf. Also, not everyone will agree with your choice of charity. I personally would not want someone making a donation on my behalf to a charity that is not near and dear to me, no matter how good the cause.

If you want to make a donation, then make a donation. I think it's a great thing to do, but I think it is AWish to make a donation and then run around telling everyone about what great people you are because you made a donation.

This is exactly what we are doing!

Except ours are just going into decorative bowls that we will incorporate into the centerpieces.

Please don't pretend these are favors. They are not.

As for KA's question, Our wedding had a Ben Franklin quotes theme. All of our guests were from OOT and staying in downtown Philadelphia. Any favors were in the gift bag and included a bottle of beer (with quote attached), a Philly soft pretzel, a homemade bookmark with quote on it, and a penny with directions to Ben's grave and his penny saved quote attached.

• I voted $3-$7 and now that I've done it, it was way too much.
• I didn't vote because I'm not really sure which one to vote for. we are having a photobooth that prints out double copies for ppl to take home with them-
I'm not paying per picture. so Idk.

• I agree with the donation favors...if I want to donate to a charity, I will. Favors are meant to be a material thing...if you aren't doing that, don't call it a favor, and keep it private.

For our tropical themed wedding, we are making chocolate "shells" and putting one of each dark, milk and white chocolate shells into tropical colored organza bags with a tag saying "Thank You from *Mr and *Mrs, along with the date".

This is what we're doing too. We're going to put a note on the escort cards explaining that donations have been made. This is not bragging. This is explaining why our guests won't have a trinket to take home, or leave behind on the table. And we're not "pretending" these are favours. When a couple donates to charity, it's usually stated that the donation is in lieu of a favour. And if our guests are offended because we decided to give our money to a charity that they may not care about, that's their problem.

• We're doing cookies. I feel that edible favors are usually more well-received by people (my family, anyway...everybody likes to eat). I'd rather give them something they'll use (eat) than spend money on something they're just going to throw away when they get home, or worse, leave on the table when they leave the reception.

• I like the donation idea. If we wouldnt have gotten a photobooth thats what we would have done. I have been to a few weddings that gave donations instead of favors and I thought it was really nice.
