Opinions on The Cupcakery?

Has anyone ever been there? Thoughts? Feelings?

I've tried several of their cupcakes and the only one I liked was their signature white/vanilla one. My husband didn't care for them either. We like Sprinkles much better. I will say their cupcakes are very pretty and nice to look at. I go for taste though.

I've only had the yellow cake one w/the chocolate icing. I liked it. I usually take all the icing off of cakes/cupcakes but I loved the chocolate on that one.

My thoughts actually are opposite of Cheryl's.If I had to choose between the two, I'd pick The Cupcakery.  I had a banana cream pie cupcake from there last week.  It was very good, and it had banana pudding in the middle.  It was moist and the icing was good.  I've also had their red velvet.  It was pretty tasty.  And Tuesday I had the "Oh my gosh, Ganauche" or whatever.  It was ok.  Not my favorite, but pretty decent. To me Sprinkles is over-rated.  The cake itself is dry and the icing isn't very good, IMO.  I feel like I could go to the store, buy some Betty Crocker cake mix and have better cupcakes.  I had a raspberry cupcake from their and the cake tasted funny, almost bitter.  I've also had plain vanilla.  Better than the raspberry, but still-I could have gone to the store and made cupcakes that tasted better. But honestly, I prefer Society Bakery's cupcakes....but they're on Greenville Ave.

Sooo, the reason I ask is that I have been offered a part-time job there as a baker. (The owner is someone I wait on a couple of times a week at my current job.) All I would be doing is mixing batter and baking cupcakes for a few hours in the wee hours of the morning a couple of days a week.I haven't completely decided, but I'm thinking it could be fun... Extra money for the holidays... Plus, badazz baking skillz. ;)

Awesome!   That would be so much fun...except I'd be taking cupcakes home every day.  Not good!

I worked in a bakery in high school and loved it! And maybe after working there for a while, you could become a REAL woman? ;)

The only ones I have liked from Cupcakery are the refrigerated ones that have like pudding in the middle. The other ones are way too sugary for me. I do like Sprinkles a lot though. I had some ata wedding shower last year that were lemon filled with cream cheese. I have no idea where they got them from but they were iced with a lemon cream cheese frosting and were like OMG melt in your mouth. I think someone made them out of their home. But they were better than either place.

Yum! love cupcakes. Someone on here used them for her wedding. I think Cupcakery would be great on the resume and fun. I liked the red velvet cupcake- the champagne one not so much.

I love The Cupcakery! Just had 1 today actually. I prefer them over Sprinkles, I think their cake is a little dry and their icing is a bit much. It'd be so much fun to work in a bakery, even if it's part time. If it's something you'd enjoy, I say go for it!

My sister worked in a bakery for a while, and it was because of the experience that she decided not go become a pastry chef after all. She had fun and enjoyed the job, but she hated the early hours. But if that's not an issue for you, go for it!
