Hair & Makeup Logistics - multiple ceremonies & reception looks

For those of you that had multiple looks for multiple ceremonies and/or reception portions, how did you handle the logistics of hair and makeup?  Did you have your hair/makeup vendors create multiple looks for you, keep the same look, or make minor changes yourself?I liked the idea of having different looks for each ceremony and for the reception, yet I'm finding that vendors are quoting significant additional charges for remaining on site between ceremonies.  I'm thinking it may actually be cheaper to hire two separate vendors to come at different times!! Or just make changes myself.  :-SAny tips or experience on how to handle this? Also any vendor recommendations would be much appreciated!  My wedding will be in NJ.

I had done my own makeup for the ceremony (and my mom did my hair) so I only hired someone to do my hair/makeup for the reception.  Many SA hair/makeup artists quoted me upwards of $1000 to stay with me the whole day for makeup changes (I didn't get whole-day quotes for non-SA artists since I ended up DIY'ing for the ceremony)It would likely be much cheaper to hire two different vendors.  Figure that most hair/makeup people cost approx$200-300 total for hair and makeup.  Multiply by two events, you're looking at about $400-600 for both.  As for recs - there's a spreadsheet that the girls on the NJ board cirulate with all vendors, but I think i posted a link to it a while back so you may want to scroll through prior posts.  But I used Adrianne from the Gab and Company salon and was very happy with her.

I used Michelle Lo Conte and really liked her.  She is SUPER fast on e-mail and was just a really easy-going, calming presence on the morning of the wedding.  Her web site is www.idohairandmake-up.comI just got an updo and makeup services from her but she she has some packages where you pay a flat rate for all services.  Here are her rates as of earlier this year: The Pampered Princess $100.00/hr – This rate is charged after services are rendered and is an additional fee. Bride uses her discretion as to how long she wishes for one artist to stick around for the evening, however there is a three hour minimum for this package. It includes hair/make-up touch-ups for anyone who has already rendered services by our beauty team.   The Majestic Mrs. $650.00 This rate is charged after services are rendered and is an additional fee. This rate includes 2 artists to stay by your side from the time services are rendered and six hours thereafter, from your ceremony through your cocktail hour into your reception. Our team will ensure that not a hair is out of place, and your face is picture perfect for the duration of your special day.   The Spoiled Bride $1000.00. This rate is charged after services are rendered and is an additional fee. This rate includes 2 artists to stay by your side from the time services are rendered and eight hours thereafter, from your ceremony through your cocktail hour into your reception. This package includes a pedicure, eyebrow design and blowout the day before your wedding at Pink Comb, and will provide you with your lipstick and lip gloss touch up.

Thanks ladies . . . I almost had a heart attack when I was quoted $1,200 on top of the cost pp for bridal party - and that was just for hair!!  It is definitely time for me to start exploring other options!!
