Just curious..Im pondering silk flowers..Im not sure yet...I was advised that maybe one of the technical school programs could do my arrangements for little cost..Anyone taking this route?

I'm having my mom do silk flower arrangements. It's cheap and she wants to do it. Plus the flowers are a small concern of mine when I look at the Wedding as a whole. A school doing the flowers is a great idea if you can find a good deal!

I went with Sandra Porterfield out of Holtwood, PA and she made my fresh flower arrangements. I was in a wedding that did silk flowers and IMO, they looked a little tacky. That being said, they were extremely cheap and not put together very well. I think it came to $4.00 per bouquet? I KNOW there is a better way to do silk. I personaly, am I flower snob and could only have fresh flowers (I LOVE flowers and especially the fresh smell!).

I'm doing silk flower centerpieces, because my theme is cherry blossoms, and you can't really get them fresh.Bouquets and bout. are all going to be fresh though.  I think they'll look a lot better in the pictures.

Mrs. Harris, I would shop around for flowers if you want fresh. I did 1 large centerpiece, 5 bridesmaids bouquests, my bouquet, 11 bouts and it was less than $500.00. Maybe you could use silk flowers for centerpieces on tables?

@Khart: my centerpeices won't have any flowers in them at all. Im using apples and floating candles like this:<a href="http://s385.photobucket.com/albums/oo294/mawotwi/?action=view&current=centerpiece.jpg&quot; target="_blank"><img src="http://i385.photobucket.com/albums/oo294/mawotwi/centerpiece.jpg&quot; border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>So I would need 8 brides maids boquets/5 coarsages/20 boutsIts just too much to think about!!

Super cute. LOVE IT! Well BM's should be around $45 and Coars. around $10 and bouts. around $8, so I wouldn't think that you would go over 600 if you picked the "right" flowers. $45 x 8 =$360 $10 x 5 = $50 $8 x 20 =$160 Total: $570.00 You could also skip the bouts and corsages or just do osmething simply like a leaf? No one really pays attention to those. I wish we would have skipped them!

Not sure where you're located, but like Khart said, shop around! I am using a lady near Ephrata & I'm getting my bouquet, 3 BM, 5 corsages, & 8 bouts for around $200. It can be done!

I guess I just love real flowers and I just had to go with real ones.  It is a week later and I can still smell my bouquet!  I had Usztics out of Dauphin PA do my flowers and they were probably my favorite thing!  (See my bouquet in my siggy pic)But it is up to you, for some people, flowers just aren't that important, but for me they were.
