  • You complete me fitty.
  • Whoopi should have calibrated her words a bit differentlyAlso, it's ticking me off that part of the reason celebrities keep giving for why they're rallying behind him is due to his "art" and his immense "talent".  WTF.  Since when does being talented give you free reign to break the law and have no consequences?  Yeah, you're famous, but you're still accountable for your actions just like the rest of us lowly peons out here in the world
  • When I was working on Deadwood, Jeffery Jones was just going through the whole child pornography scandal.  I was shocked to see him on-set and I was a little shocked that anyone would hire him.  He creeped me the Eff out and I avoided him like the plague.I think the thing about the film industry is that people very easily let their personal lives fall aside in favor of making a movie.  It's business, and what one does in their time off-set doesn't really concern anyone as long as they are making money and the work environment is productive.  Art, schmart.  Sure Polanski makes "art" and there have been and will be many more disturbed people who are great artists.  It doesn't excuse or lessen the serious nature of his behavior.Personally, I would have a hard time separating the person from their work in a case like that, as I mentioned in the JJ anecdote.  But at the same time, actors and crew are only concerned with a paycheck and furthering their careers.  If that means putting up with a less-than-desirable filmmaker but the outcome is a sure-fire successful movie that will lead to more jobs and renown, they will suck it up and do it.  It is very rare that a person working in Hollywood really truly has the clout to say "no" to work.  Work is erratic, most people cannot afford to turn down a job.On a tangent, back the subject of presenting girls as women -- I think the number one group responsible for this are women.  If we don't respect ourselves, how can we expect anyone else to respect us?  The fact that the girl's mother whored out her daughter is a big factor.  It's very Toddlers in Tiaras to me.  And while I respect anyone's right to self-expression, I think that many women grow up with the old-fashioned view of what is womanly/girly and are not comfortable deviating from it, no matter how unpleasant/uncomfortable, for fear that they will be less womanly or attractive, etc.  On the flip side, we also teach boys these same things that make a woman "womanly" and they are in a similar boat.   sorry, scattered thoughts :P
